WAC Release Multigenre ‘DOEP’ LP

Norwegian based WAC has released their massive, 20 track LP, DOEP. Ranging from the Indie Rock “Mojave,” which would fit comfortably on any Quentin Tarantino film, to the effervescent Indie Pop “Tortoise (feat. Valaria),” DOEP is a rare gem in the music world that manages to explore and bend genres while maintaining consistent listenability.

…one group, We Are Castor, have taken the concept of genres–and not just within EDM but throughout the full music spectrum–to a new place with the release of their upcoming, full length LP, DOEP. – Paste

The crazy scientists innovate and blow up the walls and the people, the artists explode the barriers of the codes to delight our ears. Our group of the day is obviously part of the second category. The whale has nujabes chill accents with a more pop-up rhythm and pop. The ramp-up at the end of the piece is simply magical. Here, their sound is a trick of magic, that’s how I would define it. – anotherwhiskeyformrbukowski

Feel free to use your imagination when listening to W.A.C.’s single “Tortoise”. The indie alternative track is a delight for the ears and the soul as the protagonist and singer/songwriter Valeria tells a tale of a chat with a Tortoise. W.A.C. are a new name to the EARMILK site, but their own self-proclaimed bio describes them perfectly, as they remark “W.A.C. is a genreconfused band from Norway. We make whatever we feel like.”

 – Earmilk

From the start, you’re not really sure what you’re going to get. At first it feels a bit psychedelic, then it moves to a bluesy rock instrumental. At it’s heart that’s what “Conduire” is, but that doesn’t mean We Are Castor doesn’t throw in their own wacky mix of sounds to spice things up. From beginning to end We Are Castor has you hyper-engaged with the musical picture they’ve painted. – The Music Ninja

Originally premiered on Tattoo.com, “Haunted” was directed by Daniel Rachlitz and Demi Dehererra.

“I wrote Haunted” about the guilt of missing someone from your past. It is a song about the shame of desiring things you can’t have. For the music video, each band member has a storyline of what “haunts” them, whether it be relationships, alcohol abuse, or mental illness. Everyone has that one thing that haunts them, and in the music video, we wear it on our sleeves.” -LaRissa Vienna

Influenced by David BowieMarilyn Manson and Shirley Temple (with a tattoo on her shoulder to match), LaRissa Vienna is a force to be reckoned with. Her somber, ghostly rock tunes will entrance you and run chills down your spine while the melodic, story-telling guitar mixe perfectly with the melancholy tones of her voice and the bass stays loyal to the hard-hitting drums.

Despite the soothing rock tones, LaRissa Vienna’s live show is nothing short of electric; despite standing only 4 feet 11 inches tall, her fiery energy demands the attention of every soul in the audience.

Starting out as a solo artist in 2008, LaRissa Vienna made her mark on the Denver music scene by writing and producing her own music, which she dubs “spooky rock.” Coming off of the local success of her 2015 and 2016 EPs, Strange Siren and Make the Pain Pretty respectively, and having had accumulated over 100,000 views on her “Underwater” music video within just a month of its release, Vienna is set to release her debut album, entitled Neptune VII” in September 2017.

There’s a definite camaraderie on the project, which finds her further honing her craft and establishing herself as a versatile artist within the rock realm, navigating the genre with grace and authority. Centering at its core around reconnecting with your inner child, the album’s lyrical content tackles the subject of facing the inevitable changes that come with growing older. Never shying away from autobiographical honesty, what results is arguably Vienna’s most personal project to date, embracing change and heartbreak as a natural course of life.

“The Strange” is Nick Workman – the lead guitarist with wild hair who has experience in every style. Aaron Mendoza on bass, influenced by The Cure and Coheed and Cambria, has experience in experimental bands and plays perfectly with the compelling drum styles of Luke Wolff. The classically-trained violinist Vanity Welch adds a perfect unique touch to the band.

LaRissa Vienna and the Strange intend to inspire and influence fans to be creative and express themselves by leading by example.

Frightful Nashville Rockers Fable Cry Announce Theme of Upcoming Conceptual 3rd Album

Horror themed, theatrical scamp rock band Fable Cry has announced the story-line of their upcoming, highly anticipated third album. Although as yet unnamed, the band has revealed an incredibly complex and imaginative outline that promises fans yet another seamless fusion of top notch musicianship and dramatic storytelling. The album is set to release Spring 2018, but fans can look forward to a taste with the release of the first music video in October, just time for Halloween!

We’re working on third full length album: a conceptual based in the post-prohibition 30’s, in a world where bootleggers have traded in their skills of smuggling alcohol, to smuggling blood and selling it to a secret underground network of Vampires. The story follows a young, would-be starlet, who’s attempted murder leads her to seek help from the members of the most infamous, blood-loving speakeasies known simply as “The Joint”. She soon finds that the leader among them has similar interests of revenge, and they must band together to give this killer what he deserves… Wrapped in mystery, seduction, greed, and gore, the tale asks: If you could pay the price, what would be so wrong with embracing your darker side? – Fable Cry

I love when I come across a band that infuses horror into their sound and overall image. Such was the case when I was tipped off to to a band called Fable Cry, who describe their sound as ‘theatrical scamp rock’. It’s a bit macabre and quirky, with the quirky part being a good thing, and their new video for ‘Dead Or Alive (For Now)‘ looks like it belongs in smack dab in the middle of a Tim Burton movie. I dig the old school horror visuals in the video and I’m not ashamed to admit I was more than creeped out by the cello player.– Dirty Horror

This is a band that brings to life colorful and imagery through their use of cello, violin in addition to an array of non traditional rock instruments. Their vaudevillian style is almost like a fusion of Foxy Shazam, Queen and Danny Elfman and their refreshing sound is quickly garnering a lot of great attention. – Music Junky Press

On to the music we go, and I want to start by talking about “Fancy Dancing”. This track, and almost the entire album, would be perfectly at home in any Tim Burton movie, and I absolutely love it. It’s as if Danny Elfman had sat down to write the song with them. If I understand the lyrics correctly, and I think I do, the song is about a dead man, traveling the road of the dead who meets a witch, and she ends up telling him, upon his asking, “I saw you dancing, I saw you dancing fancy”. At the end of the song he comes to a tree, and sees a man dangling from a tree, dancing fancy. He sees that the man looks just like him, and is him; being hanged, dying. I love the lyrical play in this song, as it obscures what is happening by using metaphor in the title of the song. It’s been said that people who are hanged do a little “dance” as they die, their feet kick and move about until they are dead, hence the metaphor of “Dancing Fancy”. – Chimera Magazine

Fable Cry, the frightful rock quintet, currently reside in Nashville, TN, drawing inspiration musically, poetically, and artistically from all things imaginative, mythical, and spooky.

Their story began when Zach Ferrin first started putting his imagination to song. The year was 2010, and he was determined to take the music, art, and stories he had been cultivating to one great platform where he could share them, with the intent to wrap it into one bundle of entertainment for the masses. He and and his sister, former member Kirstie Ferrin, had half of what would become their first album written before they would have a title by which to call themselves. The songs were all rambunctious, melodic, and wrapped in themes of loss, love, hate, and triumph playfully told through tales of legend and myth. “Fable Cry” was born, and in 2011 they self released their self-titled debut album. Between the two of them they played guitar, violin, accordion, drums, bells, kazoo, ukelele, banjo, and cello, and they tried their best to include as much of it as possible in their live shows, along with humorous intros, crowd participation, and twistedly playful “Story Time” between songs.

By the end of 2013, after 4 elaborate music videos, several national tours, and lots of writing, Kirstie left and Zach decided that it was time to expand Fable Cry and build a band that could properly play these songs that were too big for him alone. That void was soon filled by classically trained violinist and vocalist Jo Cleary, and longtime friend and bass aficionado Scott Fernandez, with a revolving door of others who would help bring this ever-growing monster new life. They immediately hit the studio to record and release their first single/music video together in the Autumn of 2014 entitled “Fancy Dancing.” Now performing as a full band, they could execute the songs the way they had always been written, packed with energy and dynamics, while maintaining (and inevitably amplifying) the band’s theatrics, elaborate wardrobes, makeup, and overall ruckusness. They spent the next few months writing and recording what would become their Sophomore album, filled with songs inspired by life through classic horror tales and originally spooky themes entitled We’ll Show You Where the Monsters Are. After two more music videos to precede the album, it was released on August 25th, 2015.

In January 2016, they hit the new year running by releasing their eighth official music video for “Dead Or Alive (For Now).” Later that year, Nic Giordano would officially join Fable Cry on drums, and they would spend the rest of the year playing local and regional shows, festivals, and variety shows.
In 2017 they began writing their third album, a conceptual vampire gangster epic placed in the 1930’s. With an ever expanding sound, they recruited the multi-talented Melody Ryan to assist on keys, flute, guitar, and vocals.

With a colorfully haunting melody and a flourishing sweep of the hand, Fable Cry will weave their strand of tales, inviting you to come along with them and embrace your darker side. They create a wildly unique experience and one that is not to be missed!

Fable: A fictitious narrative or statement. A legendary story of supernatural happenings.

Cry: To scream. To utter a characteristic sound or call. Cry havoc. To give alarm without occasion. Proclamation. A pack of hounds. To cry out with such gusto.

About Doyle:

Lodi, a small borough of Bergen County, New Jersey, is just over two square miles. There’s not much to suggest that the small village would be the birthplace of a world famous, blood-soaked form of music known as horror punk. Legendary acts The MisfitsSamhain, and Danzig all have their origins in Lodi, and something monstrous indeed lurks there. The poster child and originator of the genre, himself, has once again unleashed an evil noise on an unsuspecting world: Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein’s first release, Abominator, by his eponymous band, Doyle.

Released on Doyle’s own label, Monsterman Records, Abominator is a sonically thick and lyrically evil slab of metal that finds Doyle expanding in a logical progression upon the genre of music he helped create. Doyle’s first band, the infamous Glenn Danzig-fronted Misfits, helped create the genre of speed/thrash metal with their last album, 1983’s Earth AD/Wolf’s Blood– in fact the record has been revered as one of the blueprints for the genre by many of its most respected players, as evidenced by countless groups covering the album’s songs, not the least of which being MetallicaAbominator is not the sound of some punk guitarist gone metal- it’s the roaring return of one of extreme metal’s original architects to his blood-splattered drawing board.

Coming from a legendary band of almost mythological proportions, and having first worked with one of the most talented and respected vocalists of the century (the infamous Glenn Danzig), Doyle’s new project would need a singer with brass balls, cast-iron pipes, a suitably twisted mind, and his own vocal delivery style. Enter Alabama’s Alex Story of Cancerslug, a Southern fiend who’s sand-blasted scream opens the record, and the evil doesn’t relent until the ending growl of “Hope Hell Is Warm”, the album’s defiant closer. The man can scream and sing, and employs both styles to great effect, switching seamlessly from raw-throated roars to rough-edged, yet melodic, clean vocals. Alex’s live performances can only be described as unforgettable, disturbing and strangely addictive – a perfect complement to the already mammoth stage presence of Doyle himself.

The unmistakable sound of Doyle’s signature Annihilator guitar cuts through on every tune like a sonic fingerprint, starting with the snarling opening title track Abominator. The Annihilator’s tone is sharp as a butcher’s knife in the wrong hands and just as nasty- fans of the Misfits will recognize it right away.
On tunes like “Headhunter” and “Land of the Dead” the riffs are relentless, and if a riff could be described in emotional terms, remorseless. “Dreamingdeadgirls” brings a blackened-blues swing, and the doom-laden “Love Like Murder” shows a healthy appreciation for all things Sabbath. “Blood Stains” moves from primal sludge to ripping off-time thrash with ease. The album is just that- an album, a cohesive and well executed piece of work that takes the listener on a journey; albeit a bloody journey to places some fear to tread.

As befits songs as musically dark as Abominator‘s, the album’s lyrics are not for the faint of heart. Throughout the entire record, there is absolutely zero attempt to balance its evil with any sort of good counterpoint- penned entirely by Story (probably in blood), Abominator‘s lyrics are entirely and uncompromisingly dark. Music fans looking for feel- good anthems had best look elsewhere- those who enjoy strolling through the shadows will be greatly satisfied.

So how did this Jersey devil and crew wind up with a Dixie-bred howler? “After I had written all this music, I realized I had to get someone to sing this stuff- once I’m done recording guitars, all I can see is myself just playing that riff, ya know? That’s my thing, not lyrics and singing,” Doyle says, with typically blunt candor. “I’ve known Alex for a while, so I called him up, then sent him a bunch of the tunes. Two days later he sent me back ‘Mark of the Beast’, just like it is on the record. I said ‘That’s exactly what I want!’, and the rest is history. I only wrote the word ‘abominator’- all the rest of that stuff is Alex. He’s just crazy, man”.

It’s a match made in hell. But no metal band would be complete without a complete animal behind the drum kit. Brandon “The Crusher” Pertzborn (of Black Flag) delivers all the aggression and insanity necessary (and then some) with his exquisite musicality and showmanship.

So what can fans expect at a Doyle show?

“To get fucking pummeled, man. And then go home and ask themselves ‘What the fuck just happened to me?!?’, hahaha…” he replies with a laugh that this time, no joke about it, actually sounds evil. Loud, aggressive, and technically proficient, Doyle and crew are set to show the world how true horror metal sounds today.

So crank up Abominator until your speakers blow, check out Doyle on tour, and let the beatings begin!
