Warden Teams Up With Sisterwife on Bold and Bizarre New Single and Music Video, “Carpe The DMs”

Los Angeles, CA based electronic producer Warden once again shakes up expectations with his newest and most in your face release, “Carpe The DMs (Feat. Sisterwife),” and the duo further ramps up the audaciousness with a wildly outrageous music video. Originally premiered on The Music Ninja, the parody themed video was directed by Tim Hsiung and the multi-talented Sisterwife.

“‘Carpe The DMs’ was an interesting and confrontational concept I came up with with Sisterwife. The idea behind the song was to highlight the frivolousness of stereotypical party people you meet. The video addresses how easily it is to be influenced and sold useless things that are supposed to make you, ‘feel and look better and improve the value of your life!’ I end up in an infomercial nightmare where Sisterwife is trying to either sell me these products or kill me.” – Warden

“The lyrics to ‘Carpe the DMs’ are based on real life events pulled from drunk texts, and witnessing a girl outside the club. We tracked the vox in Warden’s closet…In 2017 social media ad targeting at times feels like a nightmare. You say “I want french fries” to your friend, open your phone, there’s an ad for french fries in your face. Also the accessibility people have to just contact anyone at any time of the day can be relentless and exhausting. We wanted to convey that feeling with the video in a different context. Hope you ENJOY! ‘CARPE THE DMs;’ — NOW!! … or else…” – Sisterwife

“The video parodies a few different things and is akin to the humor pushed by Tim & Eric. If you like the outrageous, then “Carpe the DMs” is right up your alley like it is ours. The song is a masterful bass track that shares the videos quirkiness. Together they’re a project unparalleled by most and we have the honor of sharing them with you first in this premiere!” – Tyler Trew – The Music Ninja

Kai Straw – The Recipe

Toothpick was just the beginning of a new direction for Kai Straw. After the release of his LP, he didn’t waste any time getting started on the next album. The first single off the upcoming project is a Summer ready hit called “The Recipe.”

“The Recipe” sees Kai Straw expanding on his unique, unparalleled indie-pop style. Kai kicks up a raw, but catchy sound that slowly wraps itself around your heart and soul with its intimate mood. Kai’s humility seeps through the memorable lyrics and tasteful production for a timeless love song. All the ingredients come together for something truly extraordinary to set the tone for the rest of GUN.

Stream “The Recipe” on Spotify

Kai Straw is the name of one of San Francisco’s best kept secrets.  The humble creative is known for a dynamic sound that has taken him from hip-hop producer, to emcee, to poet, to singer-songwriter, to one of the most unique R&B / soul vocalists on record.  Kai’s diversity in sound is matched only by his eclectic taste beyond the mic; as the director of his own videos, as a writer, musician and producer – he seems to be a modern renaissance man expressing panoramic talent across the arts in addition to his headlining forte.

Kai Straw is set to release his album, GUN, through his own imprint Tenth Gate Records. Complete with 10 songs, GUN sees Kai Straw levying his singing talent to new heights through a multitude of varied records; each possessing a kaleidoscopic range of influence across a broad spectrum of genres – from indie and soul, to funk and R&B, to EDM and hip-hop. Produced by James The Bear, this LP builds on the sound of Kai’s previous album Toothpick, but is characterized by a tone that is as eclectic as it is sure-footed.  If Toothpick can be considered Kai’s first step into the foray of the pop music landscape, then his newest record, aptly titled GUN, is his sonic boom.

In 2016, Kai Straw released his highly anticipated album Toothpick, whose sounds caught fans by surprise in the best way possible. His most successful album to date, Kai Straw reached fans around the world by locking in support from Spotify through their Best Fresh Finds of 2016, as well as seeing the single “Hurricane” reach #2 on their Global Viral Chart. The album received support from entertainment figures like Demi Lovato and MTV’s Khylin Rhambo, as well as tastemaking music blogs including Indie Shuffle, Music Ninja, Girl Underground Music and more.

Surprise! Enigmatic Electronic Producer SAVANT Ends 2 Year Hiatus In Spectacular Fashion

After a two year hiatus to refresh and refocus, electronic music scene iconoclast Savant returns with a mischievous gift box of musical originality, “Surprise.” A lighthearted, coming-of-age preview of what’s to come, “Surprise” takes all of the best elements of the last ten years of electronic dance music–House, Glitch, Dubstep, etc.–and melds them into a single masterpiece that will dominate both dancefloors and headphones.

Download “Surprise” on iTunes!

“I believe people want listening music – even on the dancefloor!”

Aleksander Vinter, the Norwegian artist who in the last 7 years has released over 20 recordings under different project titles like Savant, Vinter In Hollywood, and Blanco to name a few, is best known dance-music culture’s most unpredictable, impossible-to-pigeonhole enigma. With releases as diverse as they are experimental, that reputation has remained constant and well earned throughout a madly prolific career spanning numerous singles, remixes, nominations for Norwegian Grammys, and 11 (!) full-length albums.

On the one hand, Savant deploys the kind of speaker-shredding bangers that have made him one of dance music’s most popular rising stars: his dynamic live set drives crowds at mega-festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival into abandon, yet Savant refuses to conform to EDM genre demarcations – or any, for that matter.

“‘Electronic Dance Music’ is the most generic term, which doesn’t apply to what I do,” Vinter explains of the sound he’s dubbed “complextro.” “It’s all about putting everything into one pot of musical ether. I don’t have a rigid formula; my music manages to be comfortable and uncomfortable at the same time. I like breaking rules – that’s where new stuff emerges.” Indeed, this is not your grandmother’s moombahton: 8-bit videogame soundtracks, trap, disco, house, electro, classical, ‘90s big-beat electronica – even ‘70s glam rock and ‘80s new wave finds its way into his sonic odysseys. “I like how a group like Queen is very theatrical and harmonized,” Vinter says. “That epic feeling, plus the style of David Bowie, and the spunk of Prince – that’s what I’m going for, but via dance music.

His fan base is as religious as his music is diverse. His live act is a live interactive set of music of his own creation, peppered with favorites, that never repeats from show to show. Each show it truly unique but tied together by his tendency to share his newest music with his fans. Savant wants to create the same feelings that early DJ’s would evoke on their dance floors, that feeling of discovery and seeding the question, “WHAT SONG WAS THAT!? I NEED TO HAVE IT.”

Mr. Kristopher Teams With Madhatter! on “SIX,” Out NOW On Panda Funk Records

reduced

Multigenre Electronic Music producer Mr. Kristopher (Kristopher Gray) has joined forces with Producer/DJ/Guitarist Brett “Madhatter!” Hopkin to release “SIX,” out NOW on Deorro’s Panda Funk Records.

“This record from Madhatter & Mr. Kristopher actually happened pretty naturally thru our friendship. We kept meeting up in different cities we were playing shows and eventually decided to put our two styles together. The name of the song ‘SIX’ is in reference to a bug because of the weird sounds we created for background effects, but what is kind of crazy is that this is also my 6th record I’ve signed in 6 months. I created the first part of the song, Madhatter created the 2nd part of the song, and then, for the 3rd part, we did something that we have never seen before in dance music: we created a build while increasing the BPM. Instead of leaving it at the raised tempo we actually dropped it back down to the original BPM and finished it out with both of our sounds mashed together!” – Mr. Kristopher
