Spearfish, SD based electronic alternative rock act Blacklite District has released the official music video for “Hard Pill to Swallow,” the lead single off of their upcoming 4th album, Through the Ages. Originally premiered on Billboard, “Hard Pill to Swallow” was filmed outside the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center in Anaheim, CA by DZFX Media.

“We worked with DZFX Media in Southern California on the video. I literally ran into him at Guitar Center while I was picking up something for our studio sessions for the new album. We started talking right there at the counter and ended up shooting three videos that week, with ‘Hard Pill to Swallow’ being the first.” – Kyle Pfeiffer

Blacklite District has experienced a meteoric rise over the past several months, with their YouTube following edging near 100,000 in less than a year and their wildly popular Minecraft videos–“Cold As Ice” and “The Struggle”–garnering around 70 million views cumulatively. Says Kyle, “I work with multiple major YouTube channels that promote my music to a huge worldwide audience. It’s been amazing as an independent artist of this generation to reach an audience of this size.” As a result of their rapidly expanding youth audience, the duo has seen incredible online sales and Spotify streams and playlistings, as well as significant Mainstream Rock Songs Billboard charting.

Blacklite District follows no rules. With sounds of everything from electronic, EDM and hip hop, to hard rock and alternative, the band truly stands out from the pack of what has becomes today’s generic sounding “Active Rock”. Formed in 2012 by Kyle Pfeiffer and Roman James, ages 12 and 11 respectively, the band grew organically in their local music scene through the years to come. In 2011, BLD was discovered by Grammy Award-winning producer, Stephen Short (Paul McCartney, Queen), which resulted in a 10 day recording session at the world’s largest residential recording studio, Sonic Ranch, just outside of Mexico in Tonillo, TX. The group re-located to Los Angeles and played some of the most famous venues in the world for the remainder of 2011.

In 2013, the group released “With Me Now” as the lead from it’s debut album Worldwide Controversy. “With Me Now” immediately went to #1 on SiriusXM channels Octane and Faction, hit the Top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart (#32), and sold 100,000 copies. BLD went on a very successful US tour with Saving Abel in Jan-Apr 2014, with 26 of those shows SOLD OUT. After a legal battle with their management and record label, Blacklite District went on hiatus in late 2014.

On August 23, “The Struggle” was release to radio and To Whom It May Concern went for pre-order at digital retailers. Revolver Magazine premiered the music video for “The Struggle” on August 25. The band also announced a 41 date tour called “The Struggle Is Real Tour”. Blacklite District released a Nightcore remix of “The Struggle” to YouTube on September 6, which got over 2,000,000 plays and resulted in the single breaking the Top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Indicator chart at #36.

One month later, on October 6, the group released a Nightcore remix of “We Are The Danger” which got over 400,000 plays on YouTube. A couple of weeks later, the band released “Broken Souls” to radio, as well as a Nightcore remix which resulted in 500,000 plays and hitting #30 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator. This was the second song in the month of October to break the Top 40 (along with “The Struggle.”)

“The Ghost of You and Me” was released as a music video and a Nightcore remix on December 28, 2016. The song was yet again a success for Blacklite District resulting in 400,000.

On January 20, 2017, BLD released “Living In A Nightmare” as the first single from upcoming album Instant Gratification. With a coinciding Nightcore release, “Living In A Nightmare” broke the Top 25 on the BDS Indicator chart, marking the bands highest spot in chart history. The song has been streamed over 250,000 times.

On February 24, famed radio DJ Lou Brutus posted the bands video for “Cold As Ice”, which was released the same day. The song scored a whopping 350,000 streams in its first week alone, and as of May 2017, has over 3.5 million combined views on YouTube. “Cold As Ice” serves as the second single from Instant Gratification. In the summer of 2017, “Cold As Ice” was added to Spotify’s “Rock Hard” playlist, and was put into rotation on SiriusXM’s alternative channel Faction. In October, “Cold As Ice” was added to rotation on SiriusXM Octane, and it’s Minecraft music video has over 10 million views on YouTube. There are about 4 videos about a Herobrine invasion with zombies and “nether watchers” and how the main character, a player in a blue suit, survives. There are 4 songs in total in the order of The Struggle, Cold as Ice, We are the Danger (possibly not from Blacklite District), and Just so you Know.

Blacklite District released their third album Instant Gratification on September 22, going Top 10 on Amazon’s Top Electronic Albums chart.

SEASON OF GHOSTS Release New LP & Official Music Video for “A Leap Of Faith”

Season 20of 20Ghosts 202018 preview.jpeg

UK and Japan based Cinematic Electro-Metal band SEASON OF GHOSTS has released the official music video for the title track off of second full length album, A Leap Of Faith, which releases physical and digital copy 10/23/2018.

 Player

A Leap of Faith came to life, as the result of our collective experiences since the creation of ‘The Human Paradox’ and although one could say that four years is not such a long period of time, a lot has changed within and without, on every possible level. Every challenge, of course, is an opportunity in disguise, as well as a valuable lesson, so me and Sam attempted to put this into music and words. In a Leap of Faith, as well as everything I’ve ever worked on, every word has a purpose, every note, every meaning has been carefully selected with intent. We do not believe in fast fashion, fast art, therefore we create slowly, hoping that our songs will mean something to someone in the years to come. This album bears significant emotional weight for us who created it, existential intensity, but also it’s very pleasant to the ear, easy to listen, hopeful. We feel it conveys a straightforward, honest, loving message to those who’ll let it be their life soundtrack for an hour or so.

For the needs of A Leap of Faith, we combined our musical influences, spanning from Japanese visual kei, to American rock, to European metal, inviting our friends from all over the world to contribute with their unique musical style, Fatal FE (ex-Fail Emotions) from Russia, who was in charge for most keyboards, Masaki (This is a PEN) from Japan, who played piano on ‘You Are Not Your Pain’ and of course Mr Fusix who worked his magic on the mix and master. My good friend Intetsu from Japanese Visual Kei band, AYABIE, handled all photography and videos, the ethical, ethnopunk UK brand, Psylo, took care of our costumes and Sam along with Paul were in charge of art direction. Looking back, it’s so surprising that sometimes darkness can create something so harmonious, beautiful and full of light.

A Leap of Faith is not a concept album like the previous one, but undoubtedly it has a concept if one connects the dots. It emerged during a prolonged period of mental, emotional and physical drought, so it bears a certain level of rawness in its sound, its artistic concept, the photography, the aesthetics, which comes in contradiction to the more lavish atmosphere of ‘The Human Paradox’. I am in no way denouncing my beliefs or my style, I just happen to like lots of different things and everyone deserves variety, so this album has been tasked with the mission of conveying our message in a more laconic, no-frills -literally-, straightforward way, It’s a bittersweet memoir and a peculiar, daily life user manual for those who dare to listen closely. For me, A Leap of Faith is the music of the spirit, soul- nurturing, it means to offer insight and love, but you, the listener, can take whatever you need from it.” – Sophia (Vocalist and main song writer)

Season 20of 20Ghosts 20Band2 202018 preview.jpeg

Sophia Aslanides – Vocals, song writing
Zombie Sam – Guitar
Paul Dark Brown – Bass
Max Buell – Drums

Season of Ghosts “is a spiritually ground breaking, intergalactic music project, dedicated to the love for the unseen and film soundtracks.” Released in 2014, the project’s official debut, “The Human Paradox”, came off as exactly that, serving up a brash mix of guitar riffs, harsh electronics, and compelling vocals through the eerie spectrum of a sci-fi, horror movie.

Season Of Ghosts was definitely something different from the norm that spoke of huge potential, and the fanbase that followed Sophia in the aftermath of her split from Japanese trance metal act Blood Stain Child grew, finding deeper roots as time moved forward, thanks to a handful of live shows and subsequent video clips that were circulated and shared via social media.

In 2017 Season Of Ghosts created a new, unapologetic, in-your-face album, A Leap Of Faith. Between the creation of The Human Paradox and the birth of the new album, Sophia spoke out about the health issues that prevented her from advancing and creating. Everything that transpired those past years, weaved the lyrical theme of the new songs.
“I spent years in depression, feeling helpless, lost, feeling captive,” Sophia explains of her full stop on making new music. “I stopped doing anything that once made me happy, including music.

Sam, Paul and Max had been trying to talk me into working for the new album for at least two years, but I couldn’t respond. Eventually, I understood I couldn’t procrastinate any longer and I asked Sam to start making some rough chord progressions that I’d work on later. Sam tends to be very concise about his compositions, so the core of the album sounds more solid. The main melodies, base keyboards, hooks and vocal lines were made by me, so you can tell there’s diversity because I’m a colourful character with many influences and I just can’t pick two to focus on.”

The Human Paradox was an experiment, born of Sophia’s desire to express her creativity and reveal herself to the fans who had affectionately been following her for years. It was also an opportunity to explore paths she’d always wanted to take but couldn’t due to having a lack of creative input in her former band. A Leap Of Faith is not only a continuation of Sophia’s tale, but a new chapter in the life of the band Season Of Ghosts.”An honest, in-your-face, loud statement, a reminder to ourselves that we’re still alive,” says Sophia. “It’s a piece of our soul, raw, the way the universe whispered it to us.”
The Human Paradox was as unconventional as the person who brought it from dream to reality, a reflection of the inner workings of Sophia’s mind. Thus, the album’s diversity and sometimes unexpected twists are a direct result of her having so many musical influences and her wanting to unleash them all simultaneously. A Leap Of Faith is more compact and defined in sound, certainly heavier and faster than its predecessor, and the strongest, most dynamic vocal showcase of Sophia’s career.

The trance / electronic elements of the Season Of Ghosts sound have, up to this point, been the elephant in the room. Many believe that once a metal band embraces electronics they cease to be metal, or have at the very least diluted their sound. A Leap Of Faith doesn’t shy away from the trance sound, which has become a Sophia trademark, but all the performances on the album are completely organic, including the keyboards. And the auto-tuning of Sophia’s voice that plagued her following her one and only album with Blood Stain Child is nowhere to be found. All the voices on A Leap Of Faith are 100% real and mixed up front on purpose. All performances are real, including keyboards that were done by Fatal Fe. He programmed some things, but several arpeggiators and keyboards were made piece by piece, constructed from zero.”

Sophia feels A Leap Of Faith has the feel of a traditional 4-piece band, a 5-piece if you add Fatal Fe’s invaluable input. There’s no question the Season Of Ghosts dynamic as presented on the The Human Paradox has changed 100%, and ultimately for the better.

Advance Praise for Cross & Divide

“a true electro-rock masterpiece ..This is hands down the best electronic rock album that I’ve heard all year long!” – XS Rock

“While it may be hard to separate the Wax Trax! origins of Trash Deity’s members, you don’t have to be a dyed-in-the-wool aficionado to get your ass shaking to this album. Rather songs from this album should fit comfortably alongside contemporary dance floor numbers. That’s all to say rivetheads will love it, but even genre outsiders will find an appreciation for Cross and Divide.” – The Void Report

“Frank Nardiello (better known as Groovie Mann of Thrill Kill Kult) and John D. Norten (of Blue Eyed Christ) have teamed up to form Trash Deity. Their debut album, “Cross and Divide,” brings the Wax Trax! Sound to a new generation…a pounding dance beat, throbbing electronics, found sound samples, and heavily processed vocals…Over all, I like this, and if you’re a Wax Trax fan, you will too.” – Jersey Beat

Cross & Divide is as seductive as it is addictive; a great and fun listen from point A. to point B.” – The Noise Beneath The Snow

Coming from Los Angeles with roots in the legendary Chicago Wax Trax! scene is the new duo Trash Deity. Combining the chaos and energy of the classic Wax Trax! sound updated with hard and modern production, Trash Deity is Groovie Mann aka Franke N. Nardiello (My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and accomplished music producer and Industrial artist John D. Norten (Blue Eyed Christ). The debut Single, “Finger on a Trigger”, combined classic Groovie Mann vocals and cryptic lyrics with an infectious heavy electronic/guitar groove benefitting from Norten’s studio experience with major artists. The accompanying unique Music Video was comprised entirely of manipulated shots of paintings from the twisted imagination and eccentric mind of Groovie Mann. The second single and video, “Run 4 Your Lies!” was released in 2017 solidifying Trash Deity and catching the attention of Metropolis Records

2018 marks the anticipated release of the debut album, Cross & Divide, on Metropolis Records.

Cross & Divide Album is an album for now and is a representation of the confrontational and divisive times we live in. It’s a journey into the manic world of Trash Deity from the opening invitation of “Let’s run away” to the powerful closing Album statement “Change”. Each song has its own identity, but the album was designed to be a trip on a journey. It sounds totally cohesive and totally chaotic at the same time…just like us!” – JDN

What was the earliest influence in your life that led you to a music career?

the vibrations from my mother’s record player that she kept under my crib. She was 19. – Groovie Mann

Nardiello’s informally structured and yet deeply storied career began with his first band, Special Affect, including Marti Sorenson & Harry Rushakoff (Concrete Blonde) with Al Jourgensen (Ministry) on guitar. Shortly after, he moved to London working with Simon Raymonde of Cocteau Twins with post-punk band Drowning Craze, recording a John Peel session in 1982. While touring with Ministry in 1986, he met and began working with Buzz McCoy (Marston Daley) to write a film titled Hammerhead Housewife and the Thrill Kill Kult, which was never filmed but ultimately evolved into TKK and an EP released with Wax Trax! Records. Over the next nearly 30 years, Groovie Mann has established his iconic reputation with TKK and contributed songs to several movie soundtracks, even appearing in the 1994 cult classic film The Crow. He’s also established himself as an accomplished painter in the LA art community. His uniquely abstract style offers a further peak into the mind and art of Groovie Mann and are sold to fans around the world.

What would you consider to be the ‘crossroads’ that directly led to you actively pursuing a musical career?

My Insanity. – Groovie Mann

I would say my first Blue Eyed Christ record deal with KK Records in Belgium right out of High School for Leaders + Followers. It legitimized what I was doing for the first time and made me realize people outside of my bedroom studio may be interested in what I was doing.
JDN

John D. Norten also emerged from the 1990s Chicago Industrial scene as the leader of Blue Eyed Christ. The debut album, Leaders + Followers, was released internationally on Belgians classic EBM/Industrial label KK Records while still in his teens. Over the next few years, Blue Eyed Christ was featured on several prominent compilations and played the New Music Seminar in 1992 at the Limelight with Clock DVA and Chemlab. Blue Eyed Christ continued playing visceral live shows throughout the 90s and Norten continued recording at Chicago Trax Recording Studios working with established musicians and engineers from Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and more. In 1996, Norten relocated to Los Angeles and has established himself as an in demand mixer and engineer for many of the biggest artists in the world including The Black Eyed Peas, Prince, CeeLo Green, and Lady GaGa.

How are you inspired to start a song and how does that develop from writing to composition, recording, and completion? What was the process for this project?

Jump into it -improvise with & without notes, laugh & cry & argue with the producer. – Groovie Mann

I usually start with the drums and music, but really anything can be the creative spark. When I first met with Groovie Mann he came over and I played him a bunch of instrumental tracks I had and he choose the ones that inspired him the most lyrically. He would write to them while he paints at home and then come over with notebooks full of ideas and inspirational goodies. Once we wrote the lyrics and recorded his vocals, I’d go back in and add more music and elements and we’d arrange that into the songs. The whole process was very organic. – JDN

Cross & Divide ultimately reflects both their shared roots as well as their unique and individual approaches to songwriting and recording. Groovie Mann’s spontaneous and poetic lyrical reactions to Norten’s carefully constructed song productions makes for a compelling mix of something new with enough of a nod to the past sure to please the old school fans and the newly initiated.

Pablo Nouvelle Drops Title Track Off of Upcoming Album, ‘Wired,’ Feat. Lulu James

This week, Swiss producer and live act Pablo Nouvelle has revealed the title track from his forthcoming album, Wired. Bringing together gentle atmospheres to support Lulu James’ soulful vocals, “Wired” is one of the reasons why his new album is so highly anticipated amongst his fans. Laced with brushing pads and precisely placed percussion, the song is a classic track we’ve grown to expect from Nouvelle, flawlessly enthralling from the first note till the last.

“Wired” is a strong statement ahead of Nouvelle’s album release, following the success of 2016’s ‘All I Need.’ Putting different facets and colors of his sound on display, ‘Wired’ showcases Nouvelle’s command over his production, and his ability to keep us enthralled and entertained with a wide variety of sounds.

“I think ‘Wired’ has become a very eclectic album with everything from dark club tunes to pop songs and more relaxed organic tracks”, says Pablo Nouvelle about the album. “The moment I finished ‘All I Need’, I had already began working on new songs that eventually became part of ‘Wired’. At that time, I had just moved to Zürich and dove into the vibrant club scene of the city. That certainly lets some traces on some of the album tracks, especially on ‘Wired’.”

Lulu James: “I remember quickly feeling completely sucked into this track. Pablo made it very easy for me to freely dance my words and emotion around the sounds he chose to work with, leading us down this hypnotic, sexy and moody journey. We paint this picture of colors pulsing out of darkness.”
