I had a lot of fun writing and recording Queen Of Sin – our first EP that comes out June 2nd. It has a nice diversity of rock subgenres – you can find some post-hardcore, nu-metal, alternative tunes in it. ‘QoS’ is a sort of defial for those who say rock and sex can’t go together. “Make Rock Sexy Again.” We wanted to get a mix of hard rock tunes and guitar riffs with sensual feminine vocals and dominatrix attitude. – Moscow

Call her Tsaritsa (queen) like the Russian rockers all do, or call her Moscow – her nom de guerre in the international music scene – but you are going to call (attention to) this talented young lady who embodies the rebellious spirit of rock and the consummate class of royalty.

Young, Russian, Free and Beautiful, a 16-year Moscow (then known as Elizaveta Tursunova) struck out on her own to explore the world. Not wanting to be tied down to the wealthy young businessmen who had been trying to impress her, her young Russian schoolmates that adored her, or the rockers on the scene who hung on her every word, she fled to Cambridge, England.

Never satisfied to stay in one place or know only one way of life, Moscow traveled to and lived in London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, growing even more bold and worldly with every stop.

From the age of 15, Moscow was a part of the Russian music scene. “In Russia, the market is dominated by cheap pop music. It is next to impossible for a rock/metal band to break out. I hung out with some really dedicated and talented people, they taught me not to give up,” Moscow remembers. “They all thought I was older – I think I celebrated my 18th birthday for 5 years straight.” When she was in Cambridge and New York, Moscow was trained in musical theater and became a triple threat – dancing, singing and acting. “Musical theater will always be in my heart. Anytime I visit Broadway or the West End, I must go see a new musical. In London, I became friends with the cast of Rock Of Ages,” she explained. She decided to bring that musical’s premise to life and become the rocker she was destined to be.

Throughout her travels, there was something missing… something she found in Los Angeles. The Sunset Strip music scene spoke to her sense of rock history and her musical style. Having read about all her favorite artists’ lives in Los Angeles (Motley CrueSteven TylerSlash) the Sunset Strip seemed surreal to Moscow. It was there that she put down roots to record her material and the “Queen of Sin” video. Her approach is summed up by her quote “In popular music, I believe it’s time to look back to our roots – the richness of Muddy Waters, the theatricality of Alice Cooper, the romanticized excess of Motley Crue – and combine what we learn from them with a 21st century outlook,” says Moscow.

The team of Shawn McGhee (Hideout Studios – HellyeahFive Finger Death PunchPapa Roach) and Brian Steel Madina (Gemini Syndrome) produced “Queen of Sin.’ “Working with Moscow was straight fire. From the moment she walked in the studio we knew she had something amazing to offer,” says producer, Shawn McGhee. “She has the attitude and the talent to back it up,” adds co-producer, Brian Steel Madina. “It’s refreshing to work with someone who has such a clear vision of her endgame. Moscow is a force to be reckoned with.”

She collaborated with RAGE (Trivium, Hatebreed, Escape The Fate) on the “Queen of Sin” video – making it an epic presentation of her talent, power and beauty. “She fit her name, one would think she’s already toured the world several times and have sold a few million albums… On set she was fearless, her natural charisma just overwhelms you…even my crew, some of whom are just hip hop heads, as well as some of the background talent were all asking for her autograph and wanting pictures by the end of the day,” explains RAGE. “She was transforming herself in that very moment and it was with no effort, because in my opinion not only is MOSCOW ready to sneak attack the world of rock and metal but she is truly and wonderfully…’The Queen of Sin’. “

Just breaking into her 20s and breaking into the music world, she is wise beyond her years. “We all have God and the devil in us. That is where the spark for ‘Queen of Sin’ came from,” she explains. That spark is destined to set the rock world afire in 2017!

About .bipolar.

[From In Their Own Words: Smash Magazine Issue 77]

Eight years are behind us in the city of sin. Eight years of growth, evolution, accomplishments with the ever-changing desert as our backdrop.

While playing on almost every stage in this town (that will allow metal) we’ve watched the metal scene transcend a dusty cloud of impoverishment and become fruitful; pushing forth greater venues, more talented musicians and a plexus of community between the bands. While there is always the need for further growth the current state is far more productive than when we had first moved here from Sacramento in 2008.

.bipolar. was birthed in Northern California in 2003. We were recognized in 2004 as Best Metal band by the Sacramento News & Review played hundreds of shows and put out four albums over the span of six years.

Vocalist, Charlie and drummer Brian moved to Charlie’s former home of Las Vegas for personal growth during the recession still with the hopes of continuing .bipolar. Within a few months we played our first Las Vegas show at the now defunct Farm and begun the plunge into the Vegas metal scene.

Two EPs, hundreds of shows, a couple Vegas Rocks Award nominations and a few guitarists later we haven’t regretted the move one bit.

The band now consists of Chris Kmit as bassist, Kevin Lemus and Jaisen Hinds as guitarists joining Brian on drums and Charlie as vocalist.

We’ve worked hard to establish ourselves as a DIY metal band while producing great music we are passionate about and giving 110% at our shows. The music we are writing now and the shows we have planned don’t stray from our goals and promise to be as savage as ever.

More About In Lights:

Forming in April of 2015 but not yet arriving on the scene until February 2016, In Lights was an internet project that all started when Ilya Turov (Guitar) contacted Tanner MayDay (Vocals) via Facebook. The band consisted of members of previous bands of Ilya’s. Members were moved around until the line up settled with Tanner MayDay (Vocals), Isaac Orue (Guitar), Ilya Turov (Guitar), and Grant Herrmann (Drums). Ilya, stationed in Almaty, Kazakstan, had 4 tracks in pre production. Tanner stepped in to help revise and write vocals.

Eventually, In Lights worked with Josh Buckner to perfect their EP. Ilya and Tanner both brought inspiration from different sides of the spectrum. Ilya helped bring the strong, catchy, hard hitting riffs in songs such as “One Year Down” and “Running With Scissors”. In the bridges of “Play Your Cards Right, Kid” and “Turn Tables”, Tanner helped bring a whole new feel to things.

With new members Isaac and Grant, In Lights is currently in the studio writing and recording their debut record. Expected to be released this summer with brand new ideas from both Isaac and Grant, be ready for a whole new feel to the sound as well as innovative ideas.

The “Cyberpunkers” project is the child, born in 2006, of the passion for Cyberpunk culture of two young Italian DJ’s. The format aims at giving a fresh start to this style. In a nutshell, a transposition of the Cyberpunk world in modern clubbing. Through several performances at famous clubs, “Cyberpunkers” drew lots of interest and ended up being much taked about for both their original look, made of masks behind which their true identity is hidden, and for the originality of their shows, which are marked out by the use of two consoles at once and powered by several audio machines. Cyberpunkers shared the stage of the biggest electronic European festivals with such worldwide stars. Such a tight schedule did not prevent them from doing a lot of important singles and remixes.

Faulkner Reveals Another Taste of REVANCHIST EP

reduced

Alt-Rock/Pop newcomers Faulkner have released yet another track off of their hotly anticipated REVANCHIST EP, this time in the form of a dark, retributive pop song entitled “Waters Are A Rising”.

REVANCHIST, which is French for “someone who advocates revenge,” is an epic collage of interconnected concepts addressing retribution, hustling, and dislocated youth (inspired by frontman Lucas Asher’s time spent as an orphaned teenager on the streets of Brooklyn).
