Brocarde is music, Brocarde is fashion. Brocarde is a curious and vastly charismatic alliance of the two art forms. A woman of extremes and mystery who cannot be easily categorized but if you imagine the operatic voice and gothic hair of Kate Bush with the and drama of metal you get somewhere near.

She lives in the country, arrives in SoHo London like she could take down the city wearing the sartorial version of her own song with lyrics embroidered on the bodice. A black velvet dress in a heat wave. The velvet is exquisitely soft and silky. Velvet poetry. Her make up is perfect, bow lips, big eyes, unworldly lustrous lashes, her long and raven hair shines; she is both seductive and doll like. There will be a small range of dresses and jackets to accompany each song. Although Belgian haute couture designer Ann Demeulemeester once embroidered lyrics to Patti Smith songs on her shirts no song writer has ever expressed their lyrics into a fashion statement as well as a song. No artist has ever sung and embroidered the feelings in their heart on their very beautiful sleeve, or in this case, bodice. Limited edition jackets and dresses will sell for around 400.

It’s no surprise that Brocarde writes the detailed story line that will become the video for each song. The video seems the wrong word. These films are small gothic horror epics with confronting lyrics and arresting visuals. They are beyond powerful. They are epic.

“I see things visually and then I will write something. If someone walks through the door, gets whacked on the head with a shovel and falls into a pit I would wear what I was seeing.” She explains how her musical and visual senses are entwined.

Brocarde is comfortable being on her own and living off her own company for inspiration. -“People inspire me immensely but I feel I need solitude to make sense of everything.”

She comes over confident, like she could handle anything. But says “I’m emotionally driven, so it has to come from my heart, otherwise I get lost.”

“I have an awkwardness at having to mix and mingle yet I have a side of me that loves to get on stage and sing and perform. Maybe I find it easier to express myself indirectly. I am not open yet I write telling everyone how I am feeling.”

A chance meeting took place in 2016 when Brizzy Dee answered a local advertisement seeking a drummer with a diverse set of skills. Upon arrival, Brizzy was introduced to Kain and their playing styles instantly gelled. Within a couple months, Brizzy and Kain decided to strike out on their own. Initially writing music as a duo, most of the songs on the bands initial album, Black Dawn were written. Brizzy and Kain then set out to find the much needed missing pieces to their puzzle. Taking a long shot, Kain reviewed online ads in search of another guitarist. Not just any guitarist, one with charisma and raw power. And then Jay the Worst was found. Like catching lightning in a bottle, Jay fit the need. Next, bottom end was needed. Where to find a Bass player though? Jay was on it and out of nowhere, Big $ appeared and perfectly rounded out the bands sound. Finally, a search for the vocalist. Such a daunting endeavor. Lots of great talent came through, yet in the end, stood Glazergirl, a vocalist with a unique sound and extreme performance. Union Kain is a unity of like minded souls in the pursuit of delivering a unique unified sound.

bgw-cowards-albumcover

Grand Forks, BC based Grunge revivalists BADGUYSWIN has released their debut album, Cowards! After years of writing complex and intricate music, the members of Slagduster return to their musical roots with a twelve track LP that fuses classic grunge influences with crisp, modern production.

“Taking a more minimalistic approach, we’ve dropped the screaming and puzzling time signatures to create a sound that beckons back to a time when songwriting was key.” Shane Sherman (vocals, guitar)

Advance Praise for Cowards:

“Another grunge-inspired stoner rock ‘n’ roll track now with BADGUYSWIN and their debut ‘Needle Beach’, combining Ozzy-like vocals with the kind of riffs you’d see Orange Goblin churning out through their career… quite the way to introduce themselves!” – Uber Rock UK

“Due out on April 10th, the guys are ready to unleash their debut full-length, Cowards, tailor-made to give you a different listening experience with each of the record’s twelve tracks. Grunge rock may be a distant spec in the musical rearview mirror, but it’s comforting to know that bands such as BADGUYSWIN are carrying on the tradition of that legendary era.” – V13

Nirvana and Soundgarden may be no more, but the members of Canada’s BADGUYSWIN are here to serve up your guilty pleasure for an era of rock n’ roll that’s knocking on doors and making its comeback. Heavy driven grunge-inspired loud amps, blended with clean vocals, plentiful harmonies and driving rhythms are what fuels this Grand Forks, BC band to keep things stuck in your head for days to come! Featuring 3 out of 4 members from technical metal band Slagduster, BADGUYSWIN shows off their original roots in music, the grunge era of the 90s where they would glue themselves to the stereo for hours. The members of BADGUYSWIN also all grew up together in the same small town and have been playing music together in various ways for 15 years.

The band’s debut full length, Cowards, was written to give the listener an experience that doesn’t repeat itself over 12 tracks.

“Nearly one-hour long adventure ready to be enjoyed through your headphones in a beanbag chair or blasted from the speakers of your 93′ Honda Civic.” says vocalist/guitarist Shane Sherman.

The album is a heavy and hooky modern take on a classic sound with influences that are everything 90’s in grunge, stoner, alternative, and punk. It was conceived organically, performed and recorded DIY style at the home studio of drummer Zak Waterlow with mastering by Brock McFarlane of CPS studios in Vancouver. The album has a crisp and larger than life sound. With plenty of easter eggs that’ll have you searching for more from each listen.

“At first, our fans were showing up to have a good time and take their mind off their stresses. Soon after, they ended up finding that they have power… they can kick this virus right in its damn corona. We would set a goal. Then they would hit it. Then next week we’d set another goal. Then they’d hit that. Then the next week we’d set ANOTHER goal, then they would hit THAT. That for 9 weeks straight. Then we break the $10k mark. Having my mind blown on a regular basis like this is emotionally exhausting… in a good way.” – Josh

“It’s incredible that our fans are able to not only keep our silly band going, but to also directly contribute to helping fight the good fight! I hope to help out other bands as well by providing some sort of guidance on how to stream their own online concerts!” – Rob

“It’s beyond awesome to see people from all over the world come together digitally to let loose and forget about the world for a couple hours. It’s become the high point of my week and the thing I look forward to. Who knew Thursday afternoon could be so satisfying?! After touring for 10+ years it’s nice to rock IN for a change! Quarantine Shmarantine. It’s safe, you don’t have to worry about parking, and you don’t have to give Ticketmaster a kidney and spleen. ITS FREE! haha suck it Live Nation!” – Matty

“There are well over a million charities out there that we could choose to support, and some are obviously better run and more effective than others. To make sure the funds our fans so generously donate actually make a difference, we research and vet each and every one before moving forward to feature them on our livestreams. Rest assured, these are the best of the best. Besides, it is hilarious for a band known for songs about beer and tacos to be associated with some of the most illustrious organizations in the world.” – Alex

Static-X Releases Official Music Video for Brand New Song “All These Years,” Featuring Vocals by Wayne Static!

All These Years Single cover

Platinum selling International recording artists STATIC-X has released the official music video for “All These Years,” the second single off of their upcoming album, Project Regeneration Vol. 1. The song features lead vocals by the legendary late front-man WAYNE STATIC. Directed by Xer0 and co-directed by MATT ZANE, the clip is a campy narrative set in the bedroom of a young WAYNE STATIC back in the 1970’s, who comes face to face with his future rock star self through his black and white television.

The band says that the idea was inspired by the song lyrics for “All These Years:”

“It’s very challenging to represent someone in a music video, who is no longer alive, but that was something that we really wanted to do and I think it came out great” says drummer KEN JAY. “These are some of Wayne’s last works, so we really wanted to make this video all about him and to continue to celebrate his life and legacy. What better way to do that than through a fun, fictional story about how Wayne was inspired to become the legend that who he became through STATIC-X.”

The band’s 7th studio album, Project Regeneration, was scheduled to be released on May 29th but has been slightly delayed due manufacturing shut downs from the Corona virus. The album will be available across all streaming platforms and physical CD on July 10 and vinyl on August 14, 2020.

“The album is 100% complete,” says TONY CAMPOS. “We are just waiting for the manufacturing to resume. We have been given word that all is finally in production, so we are excited to get this out to the fans.”

Legendary Comedy Metal Band PSYCHOSTICK has been live streaming their hilarious “Cabin Fever Concerts” every Thursday (on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook) for the past 2 months to help keep people sane during the Spring 2020 shelter-in-place, and fans have enthusiastically turned out with every week. “Perhaps I’m losing my mind, but I’ve laughed harder at certain points during these past 8 streamed performances than I have in years. It’s more casual than a typical concert, it allows for more spontaneous insanity. We’ve been having so much fun being weirdos and messing with our fans in the chat on these streams that it feels as if it’s breaking the unspoken “be scared of everything all the time” rule…. yet there it is, and fans have been saying the most heartfelt and appreciative things to us because of it, that it’s the highlight of their week and it helps them to set down their worries about the world for a little while.” – Josh

“After so many years of computers ruining the lives of all people, we’ve finally found a good use for them: Performing comedy metal music LIVE on the internet! Even better, our amazing, smelly fanbase has helped raise money for tons of charities! Does it get any better than that? NO!” – Rob

“It’s also nice to be able to play some of our old deep cuts from old albums that we’ve never performed live before. Which means I’ve actually had to practice my instrument a lot, which I hear is a good thing to do when you’re a musician.” – Josh

“We’re all so grateful to be able to take comedy metal and SMASH it together with charity. It’s crazy how many people have been coming together online to watch, donate, and make a difference while in their underwear on an easy chair. Computer Technology! The wave of the FUTURE!” – Matty J

“We may not be able to control much right now, but we can control how we choose to act in the face of a tough situation. We choose to play music to try and bring some levity to the world. Our fans choose to join us online, those who can donate have been amazingly generous, and pretty much everyone gets to throw down in the chat pit!” -Alex

STATIC-X & DOPE GEAR STOLEN AT HEIGHT OF CORONAVIRUS LOCK DOWN

Static-X Ols school 1

Platinum selling International recording artists STATIC-X have filed a police report with the LAPD, siting that their warehouse space (which is also shared with the band Dope) was recently robbed of nearly 200K worth of touring equipment during the Corona Virus Lockdown.

The two bands were advised to take the story public, in order to help raise awareness with other small business owners and bands alike.

“With most of us in lock down, and those who aren’t locked down, wearing masks in public, apparently it’s a great time to be a thief”, says Static-X drummer Ken Jay.

The band has released a statement on the robbery:

“We want to encourage our community to keep a close eye on your property and on your facilities during this unprecedented time… We also ask for our fans to keep an eye out for the stolen items and maybe we can help the police find these people.”

The band has publicized a list of stolen equipment, complete with many of the serial numbers. The list includes: Multiple LED video panels, 2 drum kits, 40+ cymbals, various high end audio/video gear, microphones, racks, branded backdrops, etc.

They have also set up a tip center where you can share any info that may help in the investigation.

“This is tough one to swallow ” says Edsel Dope. “Our bands are small businesses that have developed and refined our touring systems over years. The amount of time and effort that has gone into building out the tech and AV production alone is hard to quantify. It’s allot of money. We own all of our own gear and have built our touring business through years of continuous investment back into ourselves.

“In the end, we recognize that there are far worse things happening around the world. We want to send out positive vibes to everyone in this crazy time. Stay safe, protect yourself from ALL the threats, and take care of each other.
We will learn from this experience and take the necessary steps to rebuild during this down time, while allowing ourselves to be a cautionary tale for others.

Stay safe and see you soon!” – Static-X & Dope
