About Doyle:

Lodi, a small borough of Bergen County, New Jersey, is just over two square miles. There’s not much to suggest that the small village would be the birthplace of a world famous, blood-soaked form of music known as horror punk. Legendary acts The MisfitsSamhain, and Danzig all have their origins in Lodi, and something monstrous indeed lurks there. The poster child and originator of the genre, himself, has once again unleashed an evil noise on an unsuspecting world: Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein’s first release, Abominator, by his eponymous band, Doyle.

Released on Doyle’s own label, Monsterman Records, Abominator is a sonically thick and lyrically evil slab of metal that finds Doyle expanding in a logical progression upon the genre of music he helped create. Doyle’s first band, the infamous Glenn Danzig-fronted Misfits, helped create the genre of speed/thrash metal with their last album, 1983’s Earth AD/Wolf’s Blood– in fact the record has been revered as one of the blueprints for the genre by many of its most respected players, as evidenced by countless groups covering the album’s songs, not the least of which being MetallicaAbominator is not the sound of some punk guitarist gone metal- it’s the roaring return of one of extreme metal’s original architects to his blood-splattered drawing board.

Coming from a legendary band of almost mythological proportions, and having first worked with one of the most talented and respected vocalists of the century (the infamous Glenn Danzig), Doyle’s new project would need a singer with brass balls, cast-iron pipes, a suitably twisted mind, and his own vocal delivery style. Enter Alabama’s Alex Story of Cancerslug, a Southern fiend who’s sand-blasted scream opens the record, and the evil doesn’t relent until the ending growl of “Hope Hell Is Warm”, the album’s defiant closer. The man can scream and sing, and employs both styles to great effect, switching seamlessly from raw-throated roars to rough-edged, yet melodic, clean vocals. Alex’s live performances can only be described as unforgettable, disturbing and strangely addictive – a perfect complement to the already mammoth stage presence of Doyle himself.

The unmistakable sound of Doyle’s signature Annihilator guitar cuts through on every tune like a sonic fingerprint, starting with the snarling opening title track Abominator. The Annihilator’s tone is sharp as a butcher’s knife in the wrong hands and just as nasty- fans of the Misfits will recognize it right away.
On tunes like “Headhunter” and “Land of the Dead” the riffs are relentless, and if a riff could be described in emotional terms, remorseless. “Dreamingdeadgirls” brings a blackened-blues swing, and the doom-laden “Love Like Murder” shows a healthy appreciation for all things Sabbath. “Blood Stains” moves from primal sludge to ripping off-time thrash with ease. The album is just that- an album, a cohesive and well executed piece of work that takes the listener on a journey; albeit a bloody journey to places some fear to tread.

As befits songs as musically dark as Abominator‘s, the album’s lyrics are not for the faint of heart. Throughout the entire record, there is absolutely zero attempt to balance its evil with any sort of good counterpoint- penned entirely by Story (probably in blood), Abominator‘s lyrics are entirely and uncompromisingly dark. Music fans looking for feel- good anthems had best look elsewhere- those who enjoy strolling through the shadows will be greatly satisfied.

So how did this Jersey devil and crew wind up with a Dixie-bred howler? “After I had written all this music, I realized I had to get someone to sing this stuff- once I’m done recording guitars, all I can see is myself just playing that riff, ya know? That’s my thing, not lyrics and singing,” Doyle says, with typically blunt candor. “I’ve known Alex for a while, so I called him up, then sent him a bunch of the tunes. Two days later he sent me back ‘Mark of the Beast’, just like it is on the record. I said ‘That’s exactly what I want!’, and the rest is history. I only wrote the word ‘abominator’- all the rest of that stuff is Alex. He’s just crazy, man”.

It’s a match made in hell. But no metal band would be complete without a complete animal behind the drum kit. Brandon “The Crusher” Pertzborn (of Black Flag) delivers all the aggression and insanity necessary (and then some) with his exquisite musicality and showmanship.

So what can fans expect at a Doyle show?

“To get fucking pummeled, man. And then go home and ask themselves ‘What the fuck just happened to me?!?’, hahaha…” he replies with a laugh that this time, no joke about it, actually sounds evil. Loud, aggressive, and technically proficient, Doyle and crew are set to show the world how true horror metal sounds today.

So crank up Abominator until your speakers blow, check out Doyle on tour, and let the beatings begin!

Originally premiered on Tattoo.com, “Straight Jacket” was directed and edited by renown Society 1front-man and artist Matt Zane of Lord Zane Productions.

“Straight Jacket,” Digital Masquerade’s first music video, was filmed in Glendale,CA at the old abandoned police facility. The Digital Masquerade started back 2013 in the city of Azusa, California. It all started when Kurt and Trevor met each other at a party through Kurt’s old guitarist from his previous band, Sixteen Till. Immediately, they clicked and started jamming. They wrote a couple songs and knew that they had something going, so naturally, they picked up a bassist and drummer and formed ‘The Digital Masquerade’. Before acquiring a bassist and drummer, Trevor and Kurt pretty much wrote the entire first album. A little while later, they recorded the first album, Welcome to the Masquerade. However, before recording had begun, the former bassist had left to join the Air Force. This left Trevor to record all the bass parts. The former drummer had moved to Tennessee after recording and before the album was ever released. With only a singer and a guitarist, the band was going through a bit of a hiatus.

Even though all of this had happened, Kurt and Trevor decided to keep the band alive and start jamming again. They wrote a few more songs before finding a bassist. Trevor had known of a guy that played bass and guitar by the name of Collin. Collin filled in on bass before finding now bassist, Jim. Jim had been in a band Mind-vent on the east coast and moved to California. After being recruited to play bass,Collin then moved to rhythm guitar. Now with Kurt on lead vocals, Trevor on lead guitar, Collin on rhythm guitar and Jim on bass, all the band needed was a drummer. This brings us to Red. Red had found an ad on craigslist about a band seeking a drummer and immediately contacted them. The band asked if he could tryout and he did. They immediately connected and thus completing The Digital Masquerade. With a complete band, they recorded their first album together, Digital Train Time Machine. They played a few local shows, promoting their album. Then set out for more rewarding shows. They received their first show in the “light” at The Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, Ca. They opened up for Circus of Power and got great reviews. Since then they have opened for other national acts such as Stephen pearcy from Ratt, LA guns, dizzy reed from Guns N’ Roses, motograter etc.. They since have been playing and continuing to write music. They recently made a music video for their single, “Straight Jacket” in which they are touring to promote it along with writing new material to be recorded in the fall of 2017.

Steven J. Vertun Releases Official Music Video “Radio”

Steven J. Vertun (www.stevenJvertun.com) has released the second music video, “Radio”, off of his February 2017 released album Ghost, Shadow and Sun. “Radio” was directed by Matt Zane and expands upon the ongoing discussion on the destructive impact of technology.

I wrote and created “Radio” the song and later the accompanying video, to bring consideration to the destructive nature of social technology to society in general. The isolation, friction, stimuli overload amidst the relentless clatter and clang is overwhelming social graces and human to human interaction. That said, the video demonstrates a way out and above the chaos. – Steven J Vertun

Born and raised in the NY/NJ region of the US, a “behaviorally challenging” 5-year-old is presented with the choice of choosing any instrument he’d like to learn to play as the latest volley from an exhaustive list of attempts to “get him under control”. Said chaotic child picks the accordion because he likes the complexity of all the buttons, knobs and keys. Kid learns the keys; the “sedating” thing fails spectacularly. Music creation and playing does become his very best friend however and highly contributes towards keeping him out of prison and remaining vertical during his formative years.

Steve switched to guitar at the age of fifteen. Upon having a grand total of five chords under his belt, he started his first band, Attic (the band rehearsed in the loft of an old barn). Over the next several years, he and his mates worked on their chops and played out whenever and wherever they could find a few electrical outlets…the drinking age of 21 limiting opportunities but inspiring creative gigs and venues. Two weeks after graduating college, he loaded up his rusty old VW bug with a couple of beat up guitars, an old Fender Twin Reverb Amp, a sack (literally) of clothes, $731 of cash and blindly traveled to Orange County, California, having never been out of the tri-state area prior to this journey. Once there, he started the band Sparrow (culled from a wild sparrow he raised for 8 years) which trans-morphed into the alternative rock band Eye Savant for 18 years. Eye Savant established a large, OC based following over the years, playing frequently at the best venues in the area and occasionally venturing up to LA as well. They opened for many well-known artists such as Jeff BeckGreat WhiteStan RidgewayMolly Hatchett and several others while frequently headlining their own shows. Eye Savant disbanded in 2002 when two of the members moved to different parts of the country. Steve opted to continue on as a solo performer, bringing in a variety of excellent musicians as needed for recording puposes.

Steve has been crafting original rock material exclusively since he picked up his first guitar (actually since his first day on the accordion). His music is a blend of 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s influenced alternative rock, progressing over the years but carrying forward the roots of each generation of music and adding to the next. The wide range of explorations covers acoustic ballads to medium paced excursions to high energy, wall of sound big bangs. Some of the bands he notes as being highly influential are SpringsteenPink FloydThe DoorsRushU2LiveLifeHouseFoo FightersSwitchfootSnow PatrolImagine Dragons and others. Does he sound specifically like any of the above influences? His response, “I don’t believe so. What I do know is that the music of these outstanding artists and others (inclusive of classical, Blues, and World Music), drop into this wide-open filter of my mind, mingle with my personal experiences, travel through the internal grist mill and come out in whatever manner and form that they do. Everyone will hear it in their own measure and how they personally relate the music and lyrics to their own unique experiences”.

In November of 2016, Steve completed his first music video to coincide with his latest CD release Ghost, Shadow and Sun. The video is tethered to the song “Ghost” from the new cd. It is an artistic, emotionally moving message piece based on the concepts of grief and redemption. The video premiered on http://www.antiheromagazine.com on January 13th, 2017 and iavailable on I-tunes. The entire CD will be available on the same sites on February 3rd, 2017 and will be available for purchase on I-tunes, CDbaby.com and most major music e-sites.

A minimum of 30% of all music sales revenues will be donated to a variety of organizations including St. Judes Hospital and Wounded Warriors.

KEEP on ROCKIN’!!!!!!

The group’s follow-up single was a reinvention of Bon Jovi’s legendary anthem, “Livin’ on a Prayer”. It reached the Top 10 on Spotify’s Viral 50 USA chart, which highlights the most shared and trending tracks in the country. The song was also featured by ESPN during their NFL Sunday Countdown programming throughout the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl lead-up coverage. Upon discovering the Epoch Failure version, Bon Jovi shared the song across all their major online platforms. In addition, Jon Bon Jovi and cowriter Desmond Child have offered the following joint statement of praise:

“The powerful new version of ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ by Epoch Failure retells the intimate story of Tommy and Gina, set in an urgent urban landscape. It captures the song’s timeless message, lifting the banner of hope and faith for a whole new generation of working class heroes. Epoch Failure is a winner!”
– Jon Bon Jovi & Desmond Child

Epoch Failure’s new Warrior’s Hymn EP was released on May 26, 2017. The big hooks and commercial sensibilities remain, but this sophomore effort surpasses their 2015 debut in both emotional intensity and lyrical maturity. This is a collection of street anthems celebrating the bold, the broken, and the believers. In much the same spirit as Epoch Failure’s “Champion” single, this upcoming EP is similarly built on a foundation of heart and grit that’s derived from the firsthand struggles these two Jersey natives have endured and overcome. As such, this is more than just an EP. It’s a personal sonic portrait.
