ToTheMonsters Album Cover

Phoenix, AZ based, Dark Alternative Rock Band THE SPIDER HOLE has announced the launch of a Kickstarter Campaign to help support their upcoming LP and associated graphic novel, To The Monsters. The unique project is built around the LP with 11 original songs, each about a different monster, as well as a 100 page horror anthology graphic novel written and illustrated by vocalist Ethan Scott; each story in the novel is about a different band member over the course of one fateful Halloween night.

To celebrate the upcoming launch, the quartet has revealed their first single, “The Skeleton Wedding,” from the album

“We were at The Quarry in Bisbee grubbing and waiting to go on stage when Ethan asks everyone in the band what their greatest fear is. He wants to do a horror anthology comic to put out with the new album. Before we were even called to the stage, all four stories were basically written.” – The Spider Hole

ToTheMonsters Comic

Two versions of the graphic novel will be offered through the Kickstarter, the standard softcover edition, and a DELUXE hardcover edition, which includes 4 additional stories. The hardcover edition is only available to Kickstarter backers.

A quartet with frequent guest musicians, The Spider Hole performs songs meant to stir brains and rattle bones. Based in sun-scorched Phoenix, AZ, the band started banging sounds together in the late nineties, and has steadily developed an aural stew that is partly rock, partly cabaret, partly blues, and partly goth. Influences include Tom Waits, Oingo Boingo, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Primus, The Pixies, Frank Zappa, The Doors, and your face when you taste something unexpected. New music is being prepped for a new full-length album called To the Monsters, due near the end of 2018.

Experimental Carnatic Musician KAPIL SESHASAYEE Releases Debut Album “A Sacred Bore” & Announces UK + Canadian Tour

Kapil Col 1

Glaswegian art rock prodigy Kapil Seshasayee has released the debut LP “A Sacred Bore” through Liverpool based label Loner Noise. The concept album, upbraiding the caste system in India, is out digitally and on CD format on 14th September 2018. The deluxe 12″ vinyl version will see its worldwide release on 14th December, 2018.

Kapil Cuastic Wit

“Through noisy clips and dipping in and out of traditional rock and drum machine-aided rawness, A Sacred Bore is tied together by Seshasayee’s wistful, anguished voice.”, notes Rolling Stone India with an advance streaming of “A Sacred Bore” in its full.

“A Sacred Bore is my debut LP and an exploration of caste-based oppression in its many guises, both native and in diaspora. Through a distillation of Carnatic musical heritage, serrated guitar architecture and textural electronic flourishes inspired by the likes of FKA Twigs, I tackle topics such as the alliance of Hindu Nationalism with the alt-right, honour killings and mis-appropriation of activist writings by upper-caste Hindus.”

Kapil Seshasayee is a polymath, and a true original talent, both as a songwriter and as a soundsmith, a one-man combination of Scott Walker, Mark Hollis, Arca and Richard Dawson, creating something wholly unique. Combining Big Black style drum machine beats with Carnatic guitar ornamentations, stunning vocals and a penchant for unorthodox instrumentation such as the aquaphone, Kapil manages to be truly experimental yet still accessible.

A Sacred Bore — a concept album based around India’s caste system — is a piercing examination of the abusive treatment towards lower caste Indians aiming to raise awareness of countless barbaric practices still prevalent among South Asian communities both in India and in diaspora. Having already been featured in noted publications The Quietus & The Guardian, Kapil was recently on air with Bobby Friction on the BBC Asian Network, as a featured BBC Introducing Artist. Building upon the narrative of prior singles The Agitprop, A Sacred Bore, & Caustic Wit, Kapil expands on the issues, from the often-overlooked connections between the American far-right and upper-caste Indians to honour killings committed in diaspora which continue to be under-reported.

WORLDWIDE PANIC Release Official Music Video for “Party”

 Party Cover Art

LA Based Heavy Metal Band WORLDWIDE PANIC has released the Diego Gonzales directed official music video for their newest single, “Party.”

“In my perspective it was a challenge to us as a band as well as in respect to finding a director. There are no shortages of videographers and directors in Los Angeles County. I know a lot of great ones that are total visionaries and could have easily shot this video and it would have just been another day at the office for them and I didn’t want that. I wanted to find someone who had the same passion for the song that we had. The moment I spoke to and met with Diego and showed him the song and saw his reaction we immediately started storyboarding with each other. It was not an easy task to complete in any regard. We wanted something extremely specific that was based on true life events that occurred in my life. Finding the actors, booking a sound stage, finding a crew, getting props, and be lengthy processes to deal with. A week to the date, Worldwide Panic, myself and Diego spent four hours at a professional soundstage filming the band performance and that weekend we had casted the actors who take this dream and turn it into a nightmare. The scenes portrayed in this video most actually happened to me. It is still difficult for me to watch this and not feel empathy for the actor on screen. I could not believe that those things happened to me in real life and now I am where I am living a happy fulfilling life. I think the rawness captured in this video encapsulates many life lessons I had to learn the hard way. Even with the dark subject matter of the song and video I like that it is done in a fun way and makes something that was very painful entertaining and fun and teaches people to avoid the many pitfalls that exist in society. It is with great pleasure I present, Party!” – Lane Steele (Bass / Vocals)

“On this track we had the pleasure of having my good friend Aaron Nordstrom help produce the vocals. He had this to say, “I’ve known Lane Steele for many years since we were in school together. I’ve seen him evolve and work very hard for awhile and find his voice as a musician. I had the pleasure of working on the song “Party” and enjoyed it very much. It was a smooth workflow and resulted in a great song. Take a listen and be sure to catch them on the road with Flaw this fall.”
– Aaron Nordstrom (Gemini Syndrome)

CAMU Releases Official Music Video for “Empire State of Sound”!

empire2

Hawaii based, NAKED front-man CAMU has returned after an 8 year hiatus with the explosive new single and official music video, “Empire State of Sound.” Self-directed, “Empire State of Sound” was shot on the street of New York City and pays homage to both the city and the Finland born artist’s experiences.

Player 1

“I wrote & recorded the first version of ‘Empire State of Sound’ while I was living in East Village New York after NAKED had broken up after our second US tour. The song is not only a celebration of the good times I’ve had in New York, but a shout out, to the energy, motivation & answers those city streets gave me during dark, unforgettable & trying times. So much can happen in a New York minute, so to say. For me, New York will forever hold a very special place in my heart. It is where I found myself, the love of my life & some of the best friends & experiences that I will cherish forever, not to mention I’ve recorded a LOT of music there & it is the first place I was able to explore & express different sides of my music style. ‘Empire State of Sound’ is a window to my NYC experience & my very own NYC anthem. My ode to NYC.
Fast forward to a few months ago, I suddenly started rearranging the song in Hawaii, out of the blue I sent it to the guys in my old band NAKED, because life is too short and I felt it was time to share my music again. The final version of the song was actually recorded by us in 4 different countries simultaneously. Voila. ‘Empire State of Sound.’

With the video, I wanted to create something personal & authentic, rather than your generic video of a bunch dudes playing on top of a building… I lived in NYC & I walked those streets every single day for years, so I know it. I know the street hustlers, the deli owners, the restaurant workers, bartenders etc, & they all know me! There’s even a shot in the video of a street hustler I used to give money too everyday, it wasn’t planned & it was epic! The video was purposely shot with a bunch of cuts to really emphasize the fast & ever changing pace of the city. Everything in the video is of my hood & old stomping grounds, plus a few quintessential NYC spots in the area. I actually directed the video & a friend of mine, Kevin Vonesper, filmed it for me. I had two other photographers lined up to actually meet me in NYC and shoot the video originally but they both fell through on the same day haha. Kevin and I did some NYC hustling and did the whole thing in 2 hours & I added in a couple extra takes then edited the whole thing together on my laptop in Hawaii. It was really awesome to see the whole thing come together, it was the first video I directed & edited.” – CAMU

Part 1: The story so far

After a 8 year hiatus from releasing music, the first thing I will be releasing is a trilogy of songs & their corresponding videos (“Empire State Of Sound” being the first of the trilogy) that unfold the journey of my life throughout these last 8 years, musically & personally. Once NAKED disbanded after 10 years, 4 albums and two world tours I had had enough, the final straw came when our manager Bill Aucoin (KISS & Billy Idol) passed away, everything fell apart, I left, I hung it up and I disappeared. NAKED had been my band since I was a teenager. I’m grown now & I have 2 children, & spend most of my time in Hawaii. A lot has changed obviously, but I’ve written & recorded a lot of music during my time living away from Finland. I’ve had so many life altering & mind blowing experiences, so I’ve got a lot of new song material & the trilogy songs reflect and tells my story. This new release is all about me coming out & being me, Camu. Naked is still my band & will be touring as my band when we do our summer tour in 2019, but this is pure Camu music the way I have always envisioned it. As the new music being released ventures further from the straight rock music we used to play back in the day, we will be releasing it under a new better fitting new name, CAMU.

BLACKTOP MOJO Announce PledgeMusic Campaign to Fund Upcoming Album

BTM HOB DFW CB-8965

Texas based hard rock band BLACKTOP MOJO has announced PledgeMusic campaign to help fund their upcoming third full length album.

“We’ve been writing and cutting demos in preparation for the third record , and we’re really excited about the direction of the new material. We’re also thrilled to have so much support from our family of Fans and friends” – Blacktop Mojo

Promo Video

Fans can pre-order a selection of items including signed copies of the new album, exclusive t-shirts, fishing with the band, hangouts, and even listing their name in the album jacket.

“As independent artists, everything we do is fan-funded. We don’t have a record label loaning us a ton of money to make a record. With that, comes some financial pitfalls, but it also means NOBODY tells us how to make music for you guys and we think that’s pretty cool!”

A hard-driving Southern rock unit based out of Palestine, Texas, Blacktop Mojo’s fiery blend of post-grunge, classic rock, and metal falls somewhere between Soundgarden, Black Stone Cherry, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Founded in 2012 by front-man Matt James and drummer Nathan Gillis, the band eventually morphed into a five-piece with the additions of bass player Matt Curtis and guitarists Ryan Kiefer and Kenneth Irwin. They released their debut album, I Am, in 2014, followed by a heavy bout of touring that saw the group sharing the stage with a wide array of heavy hitters, including Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Candlebox, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Shaman’s Harvest, Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd, and Drowning Pool.

In 2017, the band teamed up with Muscle Shoals producer Jimmy Johnson for their highly anticipated sophomore outing Burn the Ships. The album was released via the band’s label, Cuhmon Records, in March of that year to critical acclaim, and it’s first single, “Where The Wind Blows” reached #27 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, while the band was on its first U.S. tour that fall. Through that tour, they landed a slot on 2018’s Rock Fest, featuring headliners Disturbed, Incubus, and Godsmack, among many other industry leading hard rock acts.

At the beginning of 2018, the band has started work on its third full length release, as well as touring to support the second radio single from, Burn The Ships.

Army Of The Universe was founded in 2008 by Electronic Dance producer Trebla (aka Albert Vorne) and lead singer Lord K. In 2010, guitar player Dave Tavecchia joined the band and one year later Chris Vrenna (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Tweaker) co-produced their first album Mother Ignorance (Metropolis Records). Army Of The Universe’ sound is made of analog synths and blade guitars, speeding around the echoes of 80’s vibes and 90’s industrial, throughout the underground of Brit’s school electronica, new wave and techno beats.
