MATT PLESS Perfects “Ashtray” with Re-Recording of ‘Tumbleweed’

JeanetteDMoses-MattPortraits-1

Baltimore, MD Folk-Punk Singer/Songwriter MATT PLESS has returned to his 2013 released masterpiece Tumbleweed with a re-recording of the acoustic 12 track LP. Invoking the lyrical brilliance of BOB DYLAN, the instrumental diversity of THE VIOLENT FEMMES, and the folkish undertones of FLOGGING MOLLY, Tumbleweed is an explosion of dynamic discordance, mixing driving, confrontational punk acoustic jams with gentle, canorous melodies. The opening track for the album, “Ashtray,” is the perfect introduction to this uniquely focused musician’s fusion of rock, Americana, and acoustic folk.

“’Ashtray’ came about because I smoked an ashtray-worth of cigarettes in the half hour that it took to write the song…I had been playing music full time for quite a while. I was tired of finding myself performing at shows that were as empty as my pockets and was frustrated at the state of my life, the world, and the indie art community. I had been listening to a lot of obscure music circulating in the punk scene and had stumbled across a song by another artist which included a lyric that said: “If I found God anywhere it would be by the tracks”. From there, inspiration threw me my own variation on the line that would open “Ashtray”: “Someone asked me if I found God, yes, I think we’ve met a couple times. But, I’m not sure if it was Him ’cause I can’t look Her in the eye” – Matt Pless

Combining elements of folk, punk, pop and roots rock, Matt Pless can lyrically turn a phrase with the best of them. He has been compared to some of the top songwriters of our time, including John Lennon, Paul Simon, John Prine, and Bob Dylan. Known for his engaging and thought-provoking, witty word labyrinths, Matt’s music spans topics from love and loss to social commentary to ethereal train-of-thought abstractions, and everything in between.

The Swifts Drop New Album “All Sunshine” Produced by Ahrue Luster (Ill Niño/Machine Head)

January 14th, 2019 :
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Denver, Colorado
-The self-proclaimed “Ultimate Dad Band!” The Swifts have dropped their latest release All Sunshine to an eagerly awaiting fan base. All Sunshine is the ten song culmination of four lifetimes worth of exceptional and varied music experience uniting together to create the pop-punk opus of their musical careers.  The Swifts have put every ounce of energy, pain and joy they could muster into the creation of All Sunshine even enlisting the world renowned guitarist Ahrue Luster of Ill Niño and Machine Head fame to record and produce All Sunshine.  “It was a great pleasure to produce The Swift’s All Sunshine”, Ahrue Luster declared.  “I grew up a Thrash Metaler who hung out with Punks, so doing this album brought me back to my roots.  This is the second album Swifts album that I’ve produced. All Sunshine shows their musical growth and evolution.  The vocals on this album are some of the best vocals I have ever produced. Mike Little’s performances were on point, the melodies are super catchy, and we came up with so many great layers of harmonies to compliment them. I love the balance of the big beautiful, melodic choruses with the raw guitar stylings of Rob Hinerman. They complement each other in a Yin Yang type of way.  The whole album came out amazing and I’m very proud of what we did!”Once you hear All Sunshine you will agree that it is one of the best pop-punk albums of the current generation. Ground breaking but yet still familiar with hook filled guitar riffs, intelligent lyrics delivered with powerful and catchy melodies and a rocking rhythm and low end section that bangs it home.Swifts vocalist Mike Little on All Sunshine and working with Ahrue Luster, “Ahrue is an incredible musician and a seasoned veteran of the music industry. He brings so much experience and depth into making a record.  It was an amazing experience working with him as he brought our music to life.”

“This single is our strongest of the three songs that we wanted to release this year. We believe ‘Stuck On Repeat’ is the best representation of how our song writing has evolved over time; “All killer and no filler” has been a reoccurring response we’ve received from industry professionals.

This single was brought to it’s fullest potential with the help of producer Matt Good (From First to Last). He has a way of bringing out the best in you while making the recording process an enjoyable experience.
Although it’s message is serious in tone, the song is catchy and will have you jumping to the beat.” – AFTER THE CALM

After the Calm started from a living room jam session on Memorial Day of 2014 with friends Kody Rattler (Drums), David Nuñez (Guitar), and Henry Cota Jr. (Bass). Jonathan Habermacher (Guitar) joined the band shortly after the initial meeting. The search for a singer was long, but with the luck of a Craigslist ad, the band had added Logan Miracle (Vocals) as the final piece to their puzzle.

Their influences range from System of a Down to Blink-182; their sound is often compared to A Day To Remember and Four Year Strong. Some songs will have metal riffs while others tread on the line of pop-punk. There is definitely something for everyone, whether they want to mosh or just jump up and sing along. On October 15th, 2016, After the Calm released their debut EP, Ignis Fatuus, hosting a sold out show at local venue Joe’s Grotto. Their on-stage energy and crowd engagement lead them to opening for international acts such as I See Stars, I Prevail, and WATERPARKS. Their sound and hard work earned them a slot on the final Van’s Warped Tour 18’ in Arizona. Aside from playing shows, the band has worked on giving back to their community by raising money for the Arizona Humane Society through various fundraisers.

Pop punk trio Home For Fall has released their second music video, “Too Late”, from their new EP Everything I Never Said (EP produced/engineered at Compass Audio, video shot by Vince Lundi around the band’s college campus).

“The song is about moving on after going through some tough times, but the overall tone is that everything is gonna be just fine!” says vocalist Taylor Liff. “The video was so much fun to shoot and I hope that people enjoy it!”

Home For Fall has spent the summer of 2015 playing as many shows as possible, including the Van’s Warped Tour date in Cuyahoga Falls as well as opening for Have Mercy, Transit and many more. They’re currently working on their debut full-length, which is due for a 2016 release.

Formed in the Fall of 2013, Home For Fall was started by vocalist/guitarist Taylor Liff. Taylor grew up with a strong passion for music, and now he’s ready to take it to the next level. He was first inspired to begin music training by listening to Blink-182 and many other of his favorite bands as a child. In summer 2008, he and his family moved from California to Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and he was forced to start anew. After a series of unsuccessful craigslist ads, Taylor began putting up fliers around Kent State University and the Kent City area, and eventually the band was formed. With bassist Matt Bowen and long time friend and drummer Jack Burg, Taylor finally found the right group of guys to pursue his dreams with. Home For Fall are the next big thing to hit the Northeast Ohio Pop Punk scene and are looking to expand into other local scenes as well.
