EDSEL DOPE Confronts Static-X Rumors: Calls Photo of Neck Tattoo “Click Bait and Hilarious”, While reminding us that “People can do Amazing things with Photoshop”

DOPE front-man EDSEL DOPE, in the midst of a flurry of online speculation, has broken his silence to address the claims of photographic evidence attempting to prove his role as the masked vocalist, named Xer0, on the current STATIC-X Wisconsin Death Trip 20th Anniversary Tour / Memorial for WAYNE STATIC.

Hello world.

I have quietly sat through all of this speculation and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Yesterday’s internet eruption reminded me of an episode of Scooby-Doo.

It’s incredible how far some people will go to get attention or clicks, so let me remind you how easy it is to slap a little tribal neck tattoo onto someone in photoshop.

IMG 4001

I’m honored for myself and for my band DOPE to be part of this 20th anniversary celebration, along with this unbelievable, traveling memorial to our old friend Wayne Static.

Wayne is currently on the minds and in the hearts of the metal community in a very unique and special way. His memory / legacy is more celebrated than it has ever been before.

I personally get to see the joy, the tears, and the incredible sense of healing that is occurring on the faces and in the hearts of Static-X fans, each and every night, around the world.

I’m not attempting to be a spokesperson for Static-X, but I will share that I have personally met Wayne’s parents and siblings, as they have attended a number of these shows.

I have personally seen their tears of joy and their expressions of gratitude and approval for the way that Tony, Ken, Koichi, & Xer0 are celebrating the music and memorializing the life and legacy of their son and sibling, Wayne Wells Static.

I’m including a candid photo that I snapped of Static-X drummer Ken Jay embracing Wayne’s father, while Tony Campos, Wayne’s mother, Wayne’s siblings and friends share some personal time together. Words cannot express the love and respect that I’ve experienced out here.

IMG 3987

It’s one thing to go on a Scooby-Doo scavenger hunt, or to use photoshop to attempt to prove whatever you are trying to spin, but it’s entirely different when trolls, masquerading as journalists, spew their ignorant, hateful words towards something that is so incredibly personal.

Anyone with the nerve to throw virtual tomatoes at a traveling memorial, that has been orchestrated and supported by the family, loved ones, and long-time friends of the deceased should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

IMG 4014

In the end, I’m not the type of person to allow others to dictate the narrative of my life or my art, so I’ve decided to also include a picture of me chatting it up, while watching another SOLD OUT Static-X show from the side of the stage the other night.

STATIC-X Releases Video Teaser for New Song, “HOLLOW” & Announce Official Release Date with Updated Details for Long Awaited, 7th Studio Album, ‘PROJECT REGENERATION’

Hollow Promo Final

STATIC-X has released a video teaser for their new song, “HOLLOW,” off of their highly anticipated 7th studio album, PROJECT REGENERATION. The album is scheduled to release May 29, 2020 with all pre-ordered merchandise associated with the new album to begin shipping October 15th.

Player

Originally scheduled for release in Spring of 2019, the new STATIC-X album, PROJECT REGENERATION was first intended to feature several guests vocalists, along with the original Wisconsin Death Trip band line up of Tony CamposKen Jay, and Koichi Fukuda.

During the recording sessions for PROJECT REGENERATION, one of the bands producers uncovered several additional unreleased / unfinished STATIC-X tracks, many of which contained isolated vocal performances by Wayne Static.

Because of this incredible find, the new STATIC-X album will now feature lead vocals by Wayne Static on virtually every song.

“It was very surreal” says Tony Campos. “Our producer was going through all of these old studio tapes, many of which were damaged. He called me up and told me that I needed to get down to the studio right away and listen to what he found.. I jumped in my car and raced to the studio and what he shared, fucking blew me away.. It was Wayne singing on track after track, but there was little to no music on any of it.. Most of the tapes were damaged and Waynes voice was virtually all that remained in tact.”

“It was just crazy!!” adds drummer Ken Jay. “There we were.. Myself, Tony and Koichi, back in the studio together, after all these years, and somehow the universe decided to surprise us with all of these lost STATIC-X tapes containing Waynes voice. I just couldn’t help thinking that this was all somehow meant to be. I couldn’t stop thinking about how happy this was going to make Waynes family, and all of the STATIC-X fans around the world.”

While this comes as amazing news for the fans, completing these additional tracks has created a lot of additional work for the band and their producers.

Due to the busy touring schedule associated with the 20th Anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip, the band had no choice but to delay the album’s release.

“The official release date for PROJECT REGENERATION is now May 29, 2020.” Says Tony Campos “In the mean time, we have decided to go ahead and ship out ALL of the merchandise and schwag associated with the pre-orders to all the fans who have participated. This way they can have all of their shirts, hoodies, posters, etc, while we all wait a little bit longer for the music to be complete.. As originally planned, the Cd’s will ship to everyone the week prior to release..”

In addition, we are finally able to begin sharing some of the finished music from PROJECT REGENERATION” adds Campos. “There is a lot of great stuff on the way, but right now we are going to share a video clip for one of the newly finished songs called ‘HOLLOW.’ This song was originally a demo from the Start A War album, which was never completed.
“Wayne and I never felt like the music on the original demo was fully realized”. adds Tony. “The vocals sounded great, but some of the musical compositions from that time period felt a bit experimental. There is a reason that some of these tracks never made it on a previous STATIC-X album, and it certainly wasn’t because of Wayne’s vocals. The band was just going through a lot of changes at that time and, in retrospect, it felt like we were straying away from that authentic STATIC-X sound that had really defined us.”

Ken Jay adds, “When we began working on PROJECT REGENERATION our producers advised us to ignore all of the old demo music.. We opted for the original band to re-enter the studio with nothing more than Wayne’s vocal tracks.. The vocals sound really great and I think that Wayne would be really happy with what we’ve done with the music and to hear that these tracks have finally realized their full potential..”

“The 20th Anniversary for Wisconsin Death Trip only comes once in a life time.” Says original guitarist Koichi Fukuda “and this year has been absolutely incredible. The new album is going to be very special and this whole 20th Anniversary touring process has been a very unique and healing experience for the band and also for the fans.”

“We are so grateful to the fans who have made 2019 such an incredible year for STATIC-X!” adds Ken Jay. “We have toured the world and celebrated the life and work of our dear friend Wayne, while playing our debut album front to back every night.. The fans have really exceeded our expectations and again, we are just so grateful!”

“Now that the touring for 2019 is coming to an end, we have revised our schedule and we are excited to finish the album so that we can get it into the hands of the fans asap,” states Campos. “I promise that it will be worth the wait!”

AoA-2018-Web-size-0033

The days get shorter during autumn, and the darkness lasts longer. As the leaves turn, life does as well. This annual change ushers in another season and all of its inherent possibilities. For as dark as it may seem, it offers the promise of a new chapter. Such contrast fuels Alberta, Canada metal outfit Arrival of Autumn. Sonically, precise metallic pummeling offsets sweeping and soaring hooks, while thematically apocalyptic imagery undercuts a glimmer of hope. The quintet—Jamison Friesen [lead vocals], Brendan Anderson [lead guitars], Ryan Sorensen [rhythm guitars], Kevin Student [bass], and Ty Fox [drums]—explores this dichotomy to the fullest extent on its full-length debut, Harbinger [Nuclear Blast].

“Symbolically, the arrival of autumn represents the leaves changing, the smell of decay, and the oncoming bleakness of winter,” says Jamison. “We’re entering a bleak time of year that can be translated to a mental state or the state of the world. However, things sometimes have to get a little bleak before they can get better. We’re attracted to art that reflects and accepts this side of humanity as part of nature. We’re going to grab the issues and address them head-on.”

Born and raised in the tiny city of Grande Prairie, the musicians grew up “300 miles from the nearest international airport.” Inspired by the likes of MetallicaLamb of GodTriviumBlack Dahlia Murder, and more, music doubled as a refuge from small town malaise and nearly six months of winter as the band formally came to life in 2011.

“When you’re in a boring city in the middle of nowhere, people find themselves susceptible to destructive habits, so you need to have a willingness to avoid those,” he continues. “Playing music is how we grounded ourselves.”

The musicians personally booked tours across the Great White North, attracting a growing fan base in the process. They unleashed a pair of independent albums—Endless Nights and Shadows—and caught the attention of super producer Jason Suecof [All That RemainsMotionless In WhiteWhitechapel]. Not only did he turn them on to Nuclear Blast, but he manned the boards for Harbinger throughout 2018.
Throughout intense sessions, the producer pushed the boys to maximize their potential all-around.

“Jason would analyze every part at a deep level,” he goes on. “We learned a ton from him in terms of how to write and really refine our approach. He brought the best out of us.”

Arrival of Autumn introduce Harbinger with the bludgeoning barrage of first single “The Endless.” Airtight riffing and a percussive onslaught culminate around an undeniable hook.

“We’re really into Westworld, and that inspired the song” says Jamison. “It addresses the human psyche and almost questions our free will and what drives us. Do we have free will, or are we simply going through our daily lives unchecked?”

Meanwhile, “Better Off Without” underscores a metallic maelstrom with a ponderous concept of “how at some point in history we gained conscience and we mistook it for a divine voice.” Elsewhere, “Witness” hinges on thick grooves and a refrain as haunting as its subject matter.
“That one is about trying to survive when everything around you is falling apart,” he remarks. “It’s told through a fictional apocalyptic setting, nodding to the Mad Max movies. The protagonist finds he can be a hero when there doesn’t seem to be a point in trying.”

In the end, Arrival Of Autumn signal a new season for heavy music on Harbinger.

“I hope the content does make people think about how they live their lives day-to-day and to be themselves and believe what they believe,” Jamison leaves off. “Don’t live a lie. If you know something is false and you are acting it out day-to-day in order to impress other people, cut it out, and get yourself together. Recognize that all you have to do is be a better person and that itself can cause a ripple effect for the better.”

Scripture Codes Summon Suicidal Thoughts.

“The album ends with a more laid back vibe in ‘Vanity Of Vanities’ with it’s southern rock feel injected into it’s heavy groove and moments of thrash. This song is inspired by the beginning of the “Book of Ecclesiastes.”

A chosen man has accomplished everything, yet cannot crack existence’s all-troubling riddle, leaving him empty.
