Precious Child Releases Surreal, NSFW “WHOLE” Music Video!

Experimental video and musical artist Precious Child has released a provocative, NSFW new music video debuting their new release “WHOLE.” Created in collaboration with transmasculine multimedia digital artist/director Cade, and premiered on Paper Magazine, the video explores body horror, dysmorphia and abstraction of gender and identity in Precious’ vivid visual style.

“I directed ‘WHOLE’ at a time when I was at the cusp of reinventing my gender identity, both socially and biologically,” Cade shares. “In the video we allude to swapping bodies in a sci-fi scenario. We explore the controversial notion of ‘borrowing women’s struggle’ in a scene where blood travels from my vein through a tube and into Precious’ crotch, creating a simulated period. The experience itself was a ritual, as we both bled.”

Precious Child adds, “I think individuals should decide what they like and what they want to do with their body, accoutrements, lifestyle, and persona without regard to convention. The various symbols and signifiers are arbitrary.”

With the release of this new video, Precious Child announced they will release a new body of work WHOLE this spring. The album expands on the concepts explored in “My Little Problem (Violet Door)” and visual mini-album released last fall, Just A Body. In addition to the upcoming release, they are working on further new music with multiplatinum producer Ulrich Wild (SlipknotStone Temple PilotsWhite ZombieDeftones) and members of Filter and Puscifer.

Bloody, arresting, and surreal, Precious Child exists at the convergence of conceptual art and experimental music. The Los Angeles-based artist culls sonic inspiration from mainstream pop, industrial and metal to create confrontational and captivating audiovisual work. Precious Child’s 2017 album TRAPPED marked the beginning of the artist’s close collaboration with Cade, whose work explores the worlds of fetish, gender deconstruction and post-internet intimacy. Their first collaborative release was the video for “My Little Problem (Violet Door)“, which premiered via Paste Magazine, along with “Phantom”, an experiential audiovisual artist’s statement for TRAPPED. The videos have garnered a combined 1.65 million views across social platforms.

Prior to TRAPPED, Precious Child released full lengths Bloody Knees (2015), accompanied by a music video for “I Fall” featuring America’s Next Top Model alumni Nina Burns, and ESCAPE (2016), a soundtrack composed for the Neil Gaiman biopic “Dream Dangerously.” With the release of ESCAPE, Precious Child collaborated with Alabama artist Yonderpuss on video work accompanying the songs “Magic is Real” and “To Need”.

Gender accessories as seen in ‘WHOLE’ can be found here.

RadioBlack partner with INgrooves to Release “Thread (I Am)”

California Rock Band RadioBlack have partnered with Legend Distribution / INgrooves to launch their action packed single “Thread (I Am).” After signing with CB Entertainment Artist Management firm in 2017, this year will see a new single in March with a full-length album in May followed by extensive touring.

“‘Thread’ is about that friend you have that gets themselves in a rut and can’t break out of it… no matter how much you try to help them. It’s about that inner struggle to want to help those people but make sure you come out unscathed yourself.” – TJ Courtney (vocals / guitar)

Shortly after recording at the Foo Fighters’ private Studio 606, lead singer/guitarist TJ Courtney brought in drummer Derek Gledhill, founding member of Smile Empty Soul, and bassist Hayato Takano to form RadioBlack. The 3-piece’s sound is a melodic mixture of grunge and 90’s inspired alt-rock that incorporates modern production elements.

The 606 sessions were recorded through the famed Sound City Neve 8028analog console, previously graced by the likes of NirvanaRage Against The Machine, and Paul McCartney. Producer John “Lou” Lousteau arranged dream collaborations for Courtney with Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), and Mick Murphy (My RuinChevy Metal). The production team was rounded out by “Sound City” documentary producer Jim Rota, and Brad Smith of Blind Melon. These recordings will be featured on Radio Black’s debut album, slated for release next spring.

The remainder of the album was recorded with producer/mixer Jason “Space” Smith (MementoDigital Daggers) with sessions that featured the new line-up at Wishbone StudiosOcean Way, and The Village Recorder. Having already shared the stage with Puddle of MuddTrapt, and Vast, and with plans to release singles throughout the rest of the year, RadioBlack shows no signs of slowing down in the lead up to their 2018 debut.

“Between Courtney’s gruff vocals and Hawkins’ steady drumming, (Run Away) has an emotional intensity akin to the Foo’s own ‘Times Like These.'” – Consequence of Sound

“Crazy” is the first look into the Lancaster, PA-based band’s revamped lineup and sound. Consisting of founding front man/rapper/programmer Matt Brandyberry, guitarist Lance Dowdle, new vocalist Danny Case, and drummer Mat Madiro, the band’s chemistry lies at the core of The Future. An album that sees the band expanding their music palette and taking their blend of rock, hip/hop, pop, and metal to new heights.

“Anxiety made it difficult to write at times but ultimately we came together and decided we were going to write the best music we possibly could and see where that took us” said Brandyberry.

“Crazy is, at its core, a song about someone or something driving you absolutely out of your mind and feeling unable to walk away from it. I feel like everyone at one point or another experiences that in their lives” states Danny ”For me personally, I dated someone for a very short period of time and it felt like everything I said and did was wrong. I honestly thought I was losing my mind because I knew it was a bad situation, but I just felt like I couldn’t walk away. I think having that life experience really helped when we sat down and wrote the lyrics”

“Crazy” is a huge anthem for the people feeling caught in the middle of a situation and confused by it all. It was recorded at Atrium Audio with producers Grant McFarland and Carson Slovak (August Burns Red) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (KornLamb Of God), while the video was directed by Raul Gonzo.

Meka Nism Releases Official Music Video for “The War Inside”

Florida based alternative metal band Meka Nism has released the official music video for their single “The War Inside,” off of their upcoming, as yet unnamed EP. Originally premiered on New Noise Magazine, “The War Inside” was directed by Jim Dougherty with creative direction from front-woman Meka.

The music video for ” The War Inside” is the visual representation of the internal struggles that some of us battle throughout our entire lives. From anxiety to depression, addiction and insecurity, we all deal with some type of inner demons that affect us on different levels. In the video, the story is one of self healing through the spiritual journey of the Shaman. Meka portrays both her own lost soul fragments and her own hero. She faces her fears by confronting them head on in each of her energy centers, which are portrayed by six butoh dancers. We each have the power and courage to face our struggles and to save ourselves from all that we are desperately fighting. The intention behind “The War Inside” is to help inspire and create the energy to empower others to take their own healing journey and know that everything we need to win our war is already inside of us,” – Meka

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines mechanism as ‘a mechanical contrivance; structure of a machine.’ Well, that dictionary will soon need a new entry which reads ‘Meka Nism: totally uncontrived, a new structure of metal music.’ Originally formed in 2006 under the steampunk-sounding name of Meka Nism and the Rusty Years; the band, now known as the more streamlined Meka Nism, has mutated into the awesome future-forming metallic behemoth it is now. Featuring a band firing on all cylinders and the most charismatic front-woman, Meka Nism have supported legends like MastodonGojiraThe OffspringLimp BizkitOtep and In Flames. The very diversity of their support slots speaks volumes for Meka Nism, they are a true 21st century band, building new edifices on what has come before.

Inspired by MetallicaJoan JettIron MaidenSlayerGhost, guitarist Bobby Keller describes Meka Nism’s sound as “powerful, metallic, aggressive ,melodic, and in your face.”

Bobby explains the meaning of the band’s name. “Meka Nism means a well-oiled metal machine with great power! With all of the elements, the band members combine, we make one machine.”

Bobby can’t wait for Meka Nism’s fans to hear their new EP. “The musical element is superior to any thing we’ve done before. We are ready to take the world by storm. We know we have something special and are at the forefront of something new in metal. Our lyrics come from a lot of spiritual influences, Meka studies shamanism and takes a very specific healing approach to all her lyrics.”

Meka Nism, live, emit “pure power and energy. We are a LIVE band, hands down. Our shows are packed and we thrive off the energy of our audiences. We take it and punch it right back to them. There is no let up. You can expect your neck to hurt a lot after our shows.”
