LA Based Singer / Songwriter ZARAGOZA has released his refreshingly minimalist official music video for his new single, “Gypsy Christmas.” Originally premiered on mxdwn, “Gypsy Christmas” is the artist’s first original release since his Billboard charting debut EP, Child of The Sun.

“Christmas has always been my favorite Holiday and the modern commercialism of it can make it stressful which is the opposite of what its about. This song is about getting away from that modern commercialism.” – ZARAGOZA

“Instead of screaming about what’s wrong in the world, I’m singing about what’s right,” says Zaragoza. For audiences who have only witnessed his ferocious performances with the Hollywood-based metal band Sinicle, the concept of Zaragoza performing acoustically based music as a singer-songwriter might seem a complete departure. “It’s a side of my artistry that hasn’t been expressed,” Zaragoza says. “It was a natural progression.”

Zaragoza’s newest songs are illuminated in vivid detail on his debut solo EP, Child of the Sun. While the tracks include full production arrangements with drums and bass, two of the songs are presented in their most essential forms, with only guitar and Zaragoza’s compelling vocals.

With his new music, Zaragoza retains the intensity of a rock performer as he approaches the acoustic guitar percussively, highlighting harmonics and tapping techniques. “I acknowledge these roots, but the sound allows me to go deeper into a softer, acoustic realm,” he explains.

As a solo artist, he now has the freedom as a songwriter to create a quantity of songs, and then select the best ideas to complete, record and perform. Initially, he allows the lyrics and melodic ideas to exist only in his imagination. “Then it’s like a sling shot – I head back to my guitar and boom – the song is written.”

Working with Southern California- based producer Mikal Reid, whose resume includes artists like Mick Jagger and Ben Harper, the two tracked in Reid’s studio in the hills above the city, in what is Zaragoza describes as “An all wooden room. It’s like recording inside of an acoustic guitar.”

Originally from Reno, NV, Zaragoza was born to music. His late father, a formidable harmonica player, was a front man for local blues bands. Jamming in the garage until all hours was a family tradition. “My father instilled in me how important it is to play from the soul,” Zaragoza recalls. “When I picked up the guitar we played together with a musical relationship.”

Zaragoza formed the band Sinicle, who after building a substantial following with an impressive amount of regional performances, moved together to Hollywood, CA to attend Musicians Institute and launch a recording and touring career that has included concerts and festivals nationwide, bolstered by a notable series of albums.

With his evolution into an acoustically based singer-songwriter, Zaragoza notes that his life experiences guide the themes of his new songs, especially the transforming warmth of a deeply loving relationship. “We’re in a cultural cycle,” he concludes. “The backlash is to go back to the basics: Love is the most basic human need. My music is not about me, it’s about us.”

PARALLEL MOTION Releases Official Music Video for “Illogical”

Ep Art

Hard Rock Band PARALLEL MOTION has released the official music video for their single, “Illogical,” the title track off of their debut EP.

“To some people battling against anxiety might be an illogical story. But for those who live it, it’s a frightening experience. It’s a never-ending battle but music helps us take a message of hope to those in need.”

Player

“As a band, “Illogical” has a special place for us. It was actually the first song we ever made. From that moment on we realized we wanted Parallel Motion to be a band that gave the listener the confidence that they can do better as we’ve done better in our personal lives.

As fans of metal and hardrock we enjoyed listening to music that was very emotional in our upbringing. This music got us through a lot but most of those songs remind us of our past and become hard to revisit. We wanted to take a different approach when writing this ep. There were a lot of bad moments embodied in each song. But we wrote each of them in a way that instead of making us relive those bad moments it made us remember those memories as decisive moments that forged who we are today.” – PARALLEL MOTION

“‘Summertime’ is definitely the most light hearted song we have on the EP. It was written about having fun regardless of our ages, the state of the government/ world, our genders, our race… The last line in the chorus says “Don’t ever let them know”.. the rest of the song is basically about partying like it’s summer! In a world that’s so serious, we gotta keep it “hush hush” that we’re still having the time of our lives.” – DXRLING

Based in Las Vegas, The Savior Complex is a stand-out band that will be making waves in the music industry before you know it. Creators Anthony X (also known as the Sinister Minister) and Jay Gordon have shaped The Savior Complex to bring a unique sound with an avant-garde feel to listeners. Gordon is known for his work with well-known bands like OrgyKornLinkin Park, and Crazytown. The creators of The Savior Complex are no strangers to the music industry, and the unique sound will have listeners hooked from the first listen.

The Savior Complex derived their name from a common phrase seen in everyday life. The savior complex is defined by Psychology Today as: “A psychological construct which makes a person feel the need to save other people. This person has a strong tendency to seek people who desperately need help and to assist them, often sacrificing their own needs.” What’s especially interesting is how deep these three words go. On the surface, selflessly helping someone is undoubtedly a noble deed. When analyzing this further, it’s easy to think: “Are a savior’s actions any less noble if the end result isn’t favorable for the person in need? Is a savior complex always driven by pure motives? Is it better to save people instead of leaving them responsible for helping themselves?

The band’s music has similar qualities to this age-old construct. Every person who listens to the lyrics will connect with them in different ways, finding different meanings and asking themselves different questions. The Savior Complex believes music has the power to touch the soul, connecting with the struggles and triumphs everyone feels, every day.
