DARK BELOW Release Official Lyric Video for “Halo”

HALO logo

Columbia, MO based Hard Rock band DARK BELOW has released the official lyric video for their new single, “Halo.”

player

“The song was written really quickly, which is odd for us. There is stuff we’ve been messing around with for years that we can’t seem to make into something we really like, so it was nice to have Halo come together so easily.

We originally wrote the song in a different tuning and stopped playing it for a while after we went away from using multiple tunings for live shows. I couldn’t quite hit all of the notes when we played it in our usual tuning (drop C), so we changed the melody in the chorus a bit to accommodate that. I wasn’t sure it would work, but I think it ended up turning out better after the changes.” – DARK BELOW

In 2015,the band was befriended by Jason Schrick (JPS Productions) and started working with him on song writing and song structure. GRAMMY nominated producer Malcolm Springer (Producer/engineer: Matchbox 20Collective Soul, Shinedown**) jumped into the mix with Jason and they began co-producing the band’s new self-titled EP featuring Dark Below’s hit single “Make Believe”.

The band had been nominated from 2015-2018 for the MID-MO Rock Awards Modern/Hard Rock Band of the Year along with having their single “Make Believe” spun on multiple radio stations.

Currently the band is in the process of tracking and releasing their brand new single “Halo” again with Schrick producing the song and Springer doing the mixes. It is slated to be released in late January of 2019.

They have shared the stage with notables such as SalivaTraptSmile Empty SoulCavo, and Lullwater, to name a few

The band has taken to the road, playing for new faces and sharing their new songs with anyone who would listen. Look out for this buzz worthy band to make some noise in 2020!

“We all have experienced and been in a moment of excruciating emotional pain and ‘Empty Chamber’ was written during one of those moments. The song has an upbeat tempo and happy melodic vibe but the lyrics are depressing and filled with anxiety. Sometimes everything in life can be going great but you still struggle with emotional pain and confusion. I feel ‘Empty Chamber’ embodies that emotion.” – John Strickland

LULLWATER Releases Stunning Cover of PEARL JAM’s “Release”

Lullwater Poster Nirvana Style 2

Athens, GA based alternative rock band LULLWATER has released the official music video for their cover of PEARL JAM’s “Release,” off of the 1991 hit album TEN. Originally premiered on Loudwire, “Release” features live Footage with Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam, Candlebox) and Kevin Martin (Candlebox), and was recorded at London Bridge Studios in Seattle, WA, where TEN was originally recorded, with engineering and mixing by Justin Davis.

Player

“The entire experience of recording Pearl Jam’s ‘Release’ in London Bridge Studios was so surreal. Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands and to cover that song in the same room as they did, was very emotional for me. I had no idea that a couple of years later we would be performing it live with Dave Krusen and Kevin Martin on the Candlebox tour; it’s such an odd and incredible feeling of living and experiencing the moments we’ve made because of ‘Release.’ It’s by far the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me as a musician. Thinking back to when I was in my adolescent years playing that song over and over and then one day to be performing it live with the original drummer, is simply crazy for me. ‘Release’ has a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite songs to play live.” – John Strickland (Vocals/Guitar)
