Empyrean Throne Release “Haereticus Stellarum Part II“ Music Video From Upcoming Album

bandphoto1

California based Symphonic Black Metal band Empyrean Throne have released the Official Music Video for the single “Haereticus Stellarum Part II” from their upcoming debut full length album Chaosborne, which is set for release on January 24, 2017. The album, which was produced and engineered by Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrakh) is available for pre-order now on Bandcamp.

With Chaosborne we wanted to push ourselves beyond our limits as musicians and artists and explore the darkness both within and around us. For every second of every song we bled our spirit and injected our venom. We wanted to shake the listener and drown them in our message of chaos ideology and rebirth. Above all we wanted to send a clear message, this IS Empyrean Throne, an order of chaos worshipping maniacs that want to bring to bear every bit of sonic fury we can muster. This record is our war cry of liberation and a clear illuminating of our inner fire. Into Chaos, Towards the Beyond, Ever Vigilant! – Andrew Knudsen (Vocals)

About Empyrean Throne:

Facebook | Soundcloud | Instagram

Empyrean Throne is a Clandestine Order of chaos gnostic Black Metal practitioners, an endeavor stoked in the fires of inspiration and forged with the hammer of hard experience. While indisputably an American band, the initial spark was in fact ignited by two travelers in Scandinavia, from where it journeyed south and west to the sweltering heat of Lake Forest, California, where in 2011, the first manifestation of the band that would eventually become Empyrean Throne was founded.

Empyrean Throne’s very first recorded music took the form of the ravenous “Demonseed” EP in 2013, with a sound described by OC Weekly as “a vicious mix of raw black metal and traditional death metal” coupled with the haunting strains of a real, organic cello choir, signifying the birth of the band’s trademark approach to composition. With the spoils reaped from this first offering; coupled with favorable reviews from MetalBite.comThe Kosher Metal Blog, and MetalAssualt.com, the Order of Empyrean Throne was still hardly content to stand still, as still so much lay in wait on the road ahead.

In the years that followed, the members of the Order underwent various ordeals that tested their merit as artists and human beings. Grueling punishment, loss, facing one’s darkest fears, and even encounters with that which some may venture to call divine proved necessary to shape Empyrean Throne into what it was to become: a sonic conduit for Chaos. Indeed a gateway leading inwards and backwards, elevenfold, towards that great intangible place and power. Ave Magnum Chaos.

Empyrean Throne’s upcoming first full-length release, Chaosborne, is a testament to this new unfolding, lurching deeper into the infernal depths of Black Metal and higher unto the celestial realm of orchestral concert music. Telling the story of a hapless Templar knight in medieval Europe and his subsequent decent into the realm of Chaos, the album offers eleven solemn hymns to unbecoming, with the searing Black Flame of illumination and wrath burning brighter than ever before in the hearts of those who have crafted it, the members of the Order themselves.

Empyrean Throne have been privileged to fly their banners and leave their mark on the live front alongside many of the esteemed acts in extreme music, including NileKataklysmAborted, and Cattle Decapitation, among others. The Order has also carved its sphere of influence from the sweat and grime of the road, with two west coast tours under their belts and an appearance at Central Oregon Metalfest in 2016. Apart from that and a smattering of singles, which include a vast rendition of the Behemoth classic “Ov Fire and the Void”, Empyrean Throne have been quite occupied indeed preparing the ground for Chaosborne, and for whatever may lie beyond…

Stream Doombird’s New Album Early

Indie/electronic band Doombird from Sacramento are streaming their new album Past Lives now on Soundcloud. The psychedelic synth-pop offering will be released via Gold Standard Records (owned by Artery Recordings) on 12/30 and includes tracks that were recently featured in the TV shows Blood & Oil (ABC), Stitchers (Freeform), How to Get Away with Murder (ABC), as well as the indie film I Live for You.

The album was created within a little over a year,” says vocalist Kris Anaya. “The theme we tried to capture was more of a dark dance electronic record with a haunting voice. The lyrical content within the record focuses mainly on my struggles with anxiety. Even while I was recording the record I was suffering with it. Mainly the inspirations fall in between a lot of Ambient music as well as Electronic Dance music i.e (Tim Hecker, Caribou, Bibio). I personally believe this record vibes well on a rainy day or when you are taking a hike in the woods.

Anaya (who is also the former frontman of the indie band An Angle) began Doombird alongside Joseph Davancens in 2010. After a couple of unofficial releases and Davancens spending some time as a touring member of Tycho, the two collaborated with Aram Deradoorian (Geographer), Mike Sparks (Mr. Metaphor), Dusty Brown, and Arlene Deradoorian (Foster The People) to record Past Lives. The ten track offering was mixed and mastered by Robert Cheek (Band of HorsesDeftonesChelsea Wolfe). When performing live, Anaya and Davancens are accompained by Ben Edrington, Cory Phillips, and Fernando Oliva.

Pre-order Past Lives on iTunes.

Singer-songwriter Kris Anaya and producer/multi-instrumentalist Joseph Davancens want to chart new psychic territory in music. They first collaborated as Doombird in 2010 with a self-titled, self-released full-length album featuring a twelve-piece chamber orchestra. Two years later they swapped their orchestral ambitions with conceptual ones on the synth-heavy Cygnus, an album that explored the deeply personal emotional lives of historical figures through Anaya’s perspective. Now, a more mature and experienced Doombird has synthesized these parallel and distinct aesthetics with Past Lives, their official debut. For this recording, Anaya and Davancens found creative seclusion in the foggy hills of Stinson Beach, California, alongside musicians Mike Sparks, Aram and Arlene Deradoorian and Dusty Brown. There they transmuted moody, melodic Synth Pop into clockwork Krautrock and oceanic ambient textures. Over powerful rhythms, Anaya’s singing floats through the mist like the fleeting voices in the psyche. His lyrics invite listeners to fall madly in love or lose themselves in madness. Past Lives lingers on existential questions. Should I sleep? Should I dream? What’s the use?

ABOUT MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT:

Hailing from Chicago’s renowned Wax Trax Records stable of recording artists, MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT creators Groovie Mann (Franke Nardiello) and Buzz McCoy (Marston Daley) have been conjuring up sonic tales of sex, blasphemy and kitschy horror since 1987. Though often categorized as a pioneering industrial band along with label mates MINISTRY, KMFDM and FRONT 242, their true sound can be described more as a concoction of experimental, disco, rock, electronica and lounge, interlaced with their signature sampling of spoken dialogue largely taken from old B-movies. In fact, the original intent was to write and produce a trashy thriller film in the style of John Waters and Russ Meyers. Yet without much cinema experience and access to video equipment, the project was scrapped, only to be transformed into a musical group of the same name – something both had more expertise in. Nardiello fronted the late 70’s Chicago bands THE DT’S and SPECIAL AFFECT, as well as singing for the post-punk British outfit DROWNING CRAZE. Daley attended Berklee College Of Music, but quickly realized a formal education in jazz was not for him. He left school in 1981 to co-found the art-punk Boston group ZERO ZERO, and later the more goth-electronic oriented GODBOX before relocating to Chicago in 1987.

TKK’s debut album I See Good Spirits And I See Bad Spirits was released in 1989 and the next few years were spent touring extensively with an entourage of dubious musicians, shocking performance artists, and a back-up trio of voluptuous singers/dancers dubbed the BOMB GANG GIRLZ. The shows had a “Cabaret From Hell” vibe, arousing the curiosity of the kids and the media.

The band’s popularity among the underground club scene was fueled by hard-hitting dance tracks with titles like “Kooler Than Jesus”, “Do You Fear For Your Child”, “A Girl Doesn’t Get Killed By A Make-Believe Lover Cuz It’s Hot” (featuring punk poet chanteuse LYDIA LUNCH), and “A Daisy Chain 4 Satan”. The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was appalled.

Their third album Sexplosion! (1991) spawned the chart-topping, radio savvy song “Sex On Wheelz” which quickly caught the attention of the major labels, and the band signed to Interscope Records in 1992. Like all of their releases, the album had an overpowering cinematic quality, so it wasn’t surprising when Hollywood also took notice. They found themselves writing for an assortment of soundtracks like Paul Verhoeven’s SHOWGIRLS and animator Ralph Bakshi’sCOOL WORLD. The video to their 1993 single “Blue Buddha” was prominently featured in MTV’s classic series BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD. In 1994, they stepped in front of the camera for a cameo in the cult classic THE CROW to perform the song “After The Flesh”. More recently THRILL KILL KULT was written into the story line of the 2013 film SEXY EVIL GENIUS starring Seth Green, Katee Sackoff and William Baldwin. Their music can be heard frequently in movies, television and cable shows, such as HBO’s long running, REAL SEX series, Showtime’s CALIFORNICATION and most recently in the indie flick CRAZY EYES.

MY LIFE WITH THE THRILL KILL KULT’S sound has always been fearlessly experimental, and has been directly credited for influencing many of today’s artists from MARILYN MANSON to the SCISSOR SISTERS. The group continues to morph and stretch the fabric of music and as we know it, changing styles and exploring new sonic avenues with each new album, yet always remaining true to the KULT and true innovators.

Sleeptalk Sign Deal with Gold Standard Records

sleeptalk_2017

LA space-rock quintet Sleeptalk has inked a deal with Gold Standard Records, a label owned by Artery Recordings. The group celebrated the signing by premiering a music video for their new single “Indio California” and announcing plans for a 2017 full-length. The video, which was directed and shot by Shadow Born Group, portrays the idea of not being afraid to express yourself and to always know there is light at the end of the tunnel. The lyrics, however, are inspired by an annual concert series that the band regularly attends.

‘Indio, California’ is a love song,” says vocalist Anthony Fitzpatrick. “The song is based off experiences at the Coachella Music Festival. Every year myself and a large group of friends gather together and camp out at the festival. When you step onto those Polo fields you instantly gain this positive/beautiful energy, It feels like that is the only place in the world. ‘Indio, California’ is about those experiences. The type of experiences everyone longs for.

“Indio, California” is available now on iTunes.

About Sleeptalk:
Hailing from Southern California, Sleeptalk formed from the ashes of the now defunct band Like Giants. After the disbandment in 2013, vocalist Anthony Patrick and bassist Paul McGill found themselves pining for a new sound that stretched beyond the confines of their previous group. Joined by Jason Fitzpatrick (guitar), Justin Melchor (guitar) and Jacques Harmandjian (drums), the quintet make use of strong, haunting hooks that weave into atmospheric melodies. The self-described “space rock” sound creates the framework for Fitzpatrick’s alluring lyrics of sex and youthful love which can be heard all throughout the debut EP Pure and the follow-up Young. At the end of 2016, the band inked a deal with Gold Standard Records, a company owned and operated by Artery Recordings. They released a music video for the single “Indio, California” and announced plans for 2017 full-length.
