“Roots Like Mountains was created as a means to escape from the weight of our past and to express the deep passion that burns in each of us. We all come from different backgrounds, and we’ve walked different paths. Through it all, we found that music has a power to affect the hearts and minds of people in a way that defies reason or belief.

RLM seeks to connect with people in a way that skips the mind and goes straight to the heart. We want to share our joy, our anger, our pain, to remind people that they are not alone. We are surrounded by people who think and feel the same as we do, and in that, we are all together. We are family.

We strive to build a community of people from all different homes, backgrounds, lifestyles, communities, and countries to bring them together and keep on fighting together.”

Crunkasaurus Rex Shares Music Video for “Umbrellas High”

IMG_4080-2

Indianapolis’ progressive-easycore group Crunkasaurus Rex has released a new music video for their single “Umbrellas High.” The song comes from the band’s 2015 EP Sayonara and the video marks their return after a short hiatus earlier this year.

‘Umbrellas High’ is a song about getting through the tough times, enjoying the small things, and accepting yourself,” says vocalist/guitarist Sean Potter. “We felt a song like this would be a perfect way to announce our comeback.

Directed by Brian “Bone” Thorburn of Threshold Studios, the video takes a not so serious approach with a lighthearted storyline that ends in complete chaos. Theft, tattoos and milkshakes accompany this ambitious track that incorporates punk, electro-pop, hardcore and of course, a trombone.

Get “Umbrellas High” on the latest Crunkasuarus Rex EP Sayonara now on iTunes.

Crunkasaurus Rex will also be hitting the road in August with Bad Case of Big Mouth on the Break it to Build it Tour.

Meridians Debut New EP

Meridians_Promo

Metalcore quintet Meridians have released their debut EP titled, The EP on June 24th. Since forming in 2012, Meridians has been working on their craft to perfect their debut release and with influences of We Came As Romans and The Color Morale, the band is sure to be a fresh face in the metalcore genre.

Making this EP into a reality was one of the hardest things we have ever done. It took us nearly 3 years of member changes, gear changes, and all around “starting over” on several occasions to finally end up with something we are all proud to call our own. We just hope our past, present, and future fans will love it as much as we love them. Although this album and the songs it contains holds a myriad of meanings to each of us individually, “The EP” is still something we made with our fans in mind. – Josh Miller / Drummer and Clean vocals

About Not A Planet:
Every day, Not A Planet is hustling.

In a circuitous route, Nathan Corsi, an Akron, Ohioan, made his way to Kansas City after a featured role in a year-long documentary about life as a busker in New York. It wasn’t long before Nathan and Liam Sumnicht, drummer native to KC, who love each other very much, made a rock and roll baby together, and named it “Not A Planet”. A rotating cast of bass players tagged in and out alongside the duo on national tours and local shows for years, but in 2012, William Sturges enlisted as a permanent player. They toured extensively as a trio until 2015, and during that time, put out the NapSack EP and The Few, The Proud, The Strange LP. Their music won local and national awards, and earned fans from all over the world. Accompanying Not A Planet since mid-2015, Nathan Showalter is touring with the band, with keys and harmonies that fill out further the already lush sound.

New music from the Not A Planet EP Smoke Bombs and Cigarettes, is being released late summer, with the first single “Tell The Truth” streaming now.

Undeniably fervent performances, bristling harmonies and catchy-as-fuck rock and roll songs are the Not A Planet signature.

Indie Band Treason This Share “Joy” Music Video Ahead of Warped Tour Appearance

005

Milwaukee indie rock quintet Treason This has released a new music video for their single “Joy”. The quirky video has an upbeat sound to match its name, however vocalist Michael Ingle states the track was written at major low point in his life.

This song was sort of a turn around for me,” says Ingle. “I realized that I was letting my own happiness be determined entirely by everyone else’s opinions. I wasn’t being true to myself, and was giving in to the pressure of what other people wanted me to be. ‘Joy’ was written about picking myself back up, and pushing myself to become happy in the moment. It’s about taking life for all that it’s worth.

13499920_10210300567495998_239798587_o“Joy” was produced by Peter Doucette Photography and is the first single off of an upcoming EP set to be released in Late 2016/Early 2017. Treason This will also be appearing on the Milwaukee date of the Van’s Warped Tour after placing second overall in the entire PLAY Warped Tour contest.

About Treason This:
Treason This is a Indie-Rock/Pop-Punk band out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

With every line the band teaches a master class on wordy, yet undeniably infectious hooks that will have you singing along for weeks. Driven by Ingle’s highly relatable lyrics, woven carefully into pounding guitars and drums, each track shows depth and character far beyond the members years.

Somewhere in the realm of a My Chemical Romance/Motion City Soundtrack/Say Anything cross breed, the band launches from gut wrenchingly defeated, to 100% teen angst in seconds flat.

One Day Waiting are “Dying for the Truth” on New Single and ‘Mouthbreather’ EP

cropped

Alt-metal quartet One Day Waiting has released the first single/music video, “Dying for the Truth”, off of their sophomore EP, Mouthbreather.

“Dying for the Truth” is about people who blindly follow other people, trends and whats currently popular in society. These kinds of people base their lives off the opinion of others, but can’t form an opinion of their own. They often contradict what they do and what they say, like a man who bosses his workers around for slacking off, yet the boss is doing exactly that. I believe the music video delivers that message in both a serious and comedic way. – Tyler Kray

One Day Waiting is a New York-based alt-metal quartet, whose frantic and raw energy weave numerous hard-rock and heavy metal sounds into headbanging anthems that are equal parts hooky and heavy. After the success of their last EP, The Key, the guys in O.D.W. have crafted a heavier, more technical follow-up with new EP Mouthbreather, which is set to drop like an atom bomb on June 28.

The band have been making music together since 2013. Since the beginning, they’ve dedicated 100% of their being to cultivating a rabid fan base through constant gigging and putting out hard-hitting songs and music videos. They have hit the road on interstate tours, played festivals, headlined sold-out local shows, and kicked off 2016 opening up for Trivium as direct support/co-headliner. Their debut EP The Key was released in July of 2015 and encompassed One Day Waiting’s catchier sound and hard rock roots. “Worse Than Death” was chosen as a follow-up single, as the fastest, heaviest and most technical song, while showcasing a wide range of each member’s musical abilities.

The writing of material for Mouthbreather was taking place as the band played and promoted for their debut. This new EP finds One Day Waiting exploring the darker side of their sound, while playing with their roots in alternative metal and a splash of groove metal. Compared to The Key, it’s a heavier and more technical collection of songs. The first single, “Dying for the Truth,” addresses the inherent hypocrisy in popular trends and social conventions. The video, directed by Ignacio Orellana, tackles that topic in equal parts heavy and hilarious. Fans, new and old, are going to feel the power of the song and EP.

One Day Waiting is an alternative metal band from the Hudson Valley NY. The band was established in 2013 and is comprised of 4 equally dedicated members who maintain a fusion of the melody of rock music with the intensity of metal.

The lead vocalist is Tyler Kray. He’s been listening to rock / metal since 2005 and first started to perform in bands by 2011. Inspired by bands like Disturbedand Drowning Pool, he incorporates a heavy singing style with clean and raspy vocals along with harsh screams. He is also responsible for writing the majority of ODW’s lyrics.

Nick Cozzolino, the guitarist, was turned onto rock music at the age of 10. Going to his first concert, not knowing anything about rock music, he sawShinedown and Trapt perform. It was then that he knew that’s what he wanted to for the rest of his life. He started playing guitar at age 11 and has been in and out of bands since 2010. ODW is the right fit he has been looking for. His roots are southern rock, hard rock and alternative metal.

The bassist of the band is Connor Koch. He has been listening to all types of music ever since he was a kid and has always had a passion for playing and performing. With a wide range of influences from Paul McCartney to Steve Harris to John Entwistle to Johnny Christ, Connor incorporates hard, punchy finger picking technique and elegant high end fills along with a deep bottom end to solidify the band.

John Zambito began playing the drums at age 5 and was brought up listening to hard rock/metal music. Main influences on his playing style are Lamb of God, Disturbed, Pantera, Metallica, A7X, Trivium, and Korn. John delivers a style of drumming that revolves around a syncopated double bass foot technique along with the incorporation of tribal drum beats, crafting a unique, tight, and punchy sound. John also aids in the lyric writing process.

One Day Waiting continues to grow as time progresses. They bring the frantic raw energy at their concerts that empowers the audience to listen and feel their music. As of 2015, they have played in 4 different states and have released two EP’s.

Track by Track With Eily Orcko

13043596_1187520877944992_2650033580047416838_n
Rapper Eily Orcko recently released an amazing mixtape. We’ve been listening to it all week. We asked Eily to give us a track by track breakdown of what each song is about.
Grab the freemixtape at DAT PIFF and read along as you listen to each track!
Smile: Smile was a song I kind of had in my head before it was written. The song consist of bits of my personal life and views bringing you in with “Let me see a crowd of angels laughing from they angle” kind of setting the tone of frustration. I really wanted the listener to get a glimpse into parts of my life I don’t really speak on with this song like I do with all of them but with alittle more depth. At the end of this song I had a message to someone very dear to me that continuously let me down but they no longer matter so I guess they really couldn’t make me smile at the end of the day huh?
Bogus: Bogus is abit of introspective on my whole career to a degree. The song starts off with “I crash landed abandoning my brand new rocket ship” which is really a reference to me feeling like I’m stranded in Cleveland leaving behind allot of the things I had recently obtained back home…I lost allot. the song really goes indepth with feeling out of my element with all of this, Being a rapper, all these new people I’m meeting, The hip-hop scene, the hate and channels we have to swim through to even take the smallest step in what we hope is the right direction all of it. Bogus really is suppose to let people know “hey I’m out here doing me, yeah its awkward and hard but this is what I love and I’m here to make the change I wanna see in the community no matter what.” I’m always trying to stay true to my message of positivity but not be so direct with it and bogus captures the whole essence of that concept.
Enough: “Bro pass me a bottle, Losing these days screaming out fuck tomorrow, Spend all my evenings with niggas and bitches, so I spend my riches and drown in my sorrows.” Off rip Enough’s message is put out there. I grow tired, I hit my lows, I drink and spend money I don’t have on things I don’t need so I don’t feel ect. Enough from my perspective comes from that point where you just simply have enough of your negative ways and the negativity around you. Fox came in with this painting the picture from his perspective, him being the responsible and better put together person on this track he raps from his perspective of being the sober guy around that negativity and not really fully understanding but at least being there cause he knows his friends need help. you get two sides of one scenario the drunk with allot on his plate and trying to get by and his friend whose always a reliable ride from the party they really didn’t wanna attend in the first place.
13450048_1216396055057474_6563527199949933511_n.jpg
Chuthlu Shalt Not Be Disturbed: Alright lets get this out the way I love H.P Lovecraft’s work and the ocean is like my life I love water so I’m drawn to there being some alien squid dragon guy under the water taking a nap who if you look at him he’ll drive you insane…I can relate man people look at me and then they look crazy all the time. Now that the title is out the way, this song has a lazy vibe. I wrote this with the whole “I feel like an outcast” mind set I reference back to my drinking and how it helps me coast through life “floating down a lake of whiskey” I like whiskey drink of preference just a little fun fact for you. To wrap this up, the song is really just a relaxed tune saying yeah I hear you but I’m just gonna figure everything out my way.
Nudes From A Vampire: “Nudes From A Vampire” Lets see if you can tie this all together. If you know anything about vampires (I like spelling it with a Y ((Vampyre)) but I feel like I gotta sacrifice things like that sometimes) you can’t get nudes from a vampire cause they cant be photographed so your not getting anything out of the message. the nudes part come on now we all appreciate nudes and wanna see the goods right? I wrote this about my highschool girlfriend that sucked the life out of me…well tried to. the song holds content from being in a one sided relationship where you feel like you have to chase someone your already with and your getting nothing out of it. at the end I close off with “one day well both see the same thing and well see who comes back” which is really referencing when you break that relationship off seriously that person will attempt to come back at some point…my advice though, just move on there’s better people in this world to surround yourself with and you deserve to be happy and if your that life sucking vampire all I have to say is, Stop it your making all the awesome people in this world lame and sad.
Wild Things: A tropical adventure through my old partying days with the wild things. This is one of my favorite tracks it really is just fun for me. The song holds my famous drinking content (get use to it) with a little view into my old life of being out in the streets, drinking, fighting, yelling, dealing with self Proclaimed “O.G’s” and telling my listener who may try to be one of the “monsters” come on and see what its really like. the hook in the track is suppose to show the positive fun side yet the verses are suppose to reflect the negatives. All and all I tried to set the fun relaxed wavy tone with this song.
Sunset Motel: This is an actual undisclosed location, if you know what it is AYEEEE. A small personal story from a time way before I was an adult making questionable decisions as a young teenager in South Florida. The song contains abit of a day I had with a girl I was interested in for a week or so we use to talk about saving up money and getting out of Florida to see the world and just have fun with no more drama but it also holds the reality of that situation where I have to be around and be apart of things I don’t agree with in my head. the whole ordeal ended up with me drinking allot of vodka, skating all over the place, partying, rarely sleeping, making money and spending it all then loosing what even got me into all of that to begin with.  at the end of all that I end up alone working on music…
Journey Of The Destroyer: So if you paid attention to the bits of detail in the last song at this point I’m alone “Journey of the Destroyer”  is introspective of everything I did previously before and where I’m headed. I tackle things like relationships, feeling and being alone as a kid, hiding from problems, and growing up in general then kinda landing where I am after taking a loss. I reference retreating again and falling back into my old loner ways and if I do that will the person I lost find me or are we just gonna meet awkwardly on the other side. do our Losses take away from who we are, make us stronger or do they make us all monsters (little bit of foreshadowing there).
If Dogs Were Wizards: so the title is just a title has nothing to do with anything really…just so you know. “if dogs were wizards” is like Bogus Pt.2. As I make my way as an artist people throw shade at me and with my growth I have more confidence in my craft. the whole track I’m really doing my least favorite thing and that’s rapping about rapping. All in all there’s some bars and flow switches I can appreciate but at the end of the day its just about my career so far and how unhappy I am with certain things. this whole tape is really just a series of bogus events in my life.
KIDS: Kids Is a freestyle…..I was just rapping about whatever came to mind really, the beat is chill and keeps up with the whole wavy them. I mention things that we do that take away from us being us and losing ourselves. Mentioning my career again I also reference being called crazy at points in my life and replied to that saying “I’m not insane, Just switched up and made my own lane, gathered experience making good vibes from bad pain” which can be taken all types of ways. still Kids is a freestyle I stepped to the mic, hit record spit then edited an threw it on the tape.
Rain: I often feel like things that went wrong in my relationship are my fault. I focused so heavily on music I didn’t give the girl I loved the attention I use to. My passion for her and the passion I found doing this drove me to be a better artist honestly. Once again loss is the topic a song of mine. I’m starting to think I’m a depressing artist the deeper I get into this stuff.
That Sinking Feeling You When…: Through out my life I’ve been in and out of others and some people just look for trouble. This song was about a friend of mine I use to see allot of good in but she always ended up hurting herself with her bad choices. a smooth relaxed oceanic tune intros you into me describing a moment with her, from there I sing about the events that take place day to day and how we met. the tone is set to be wavy like everything else but also have a more lost feel than the rest. With less power and control in this situation I wanted my listener to get lost in the vibe so I let the beat ride out for awhile after I sing the outro.
Night: Closing this mixtape you find yourself with “Night” which is the same subject matter as Bogus but in present context. Where I’m at right now I feel like I’m in ruins with nothing music in my heart and fire in my soul. No more home, no more friends, nothing is the same anymore for me I have set my path as “Eliy Orcko” the Former Punk Skater from Coral Springs, Florida. The song reflects on everything all the previous songs talked about and I think it’s one of my best, it has that wavy song with an up beat groove to it along with my vocal melodies its definitely in my top 5 on this whole project.
Like Me: “Like Me” is a song Sav from Authentic Language gave me as a feature and wanted me to kind of take over for so I used it on the tape. It ended up fitting well but I didn’t know where it should go so I consider It a bonus track if you shuffle the whole project you’ll find it fits in perfectly though. the track is just about loving someone intensely and enjoying just who they are and what you have together. content touches on more than physical relations, always being there, taking a chance with someone different, and sticking by their side cause you’ll never have another connection like the one you have with a person who actually cares and vibes with you.

hicago based metal band Fools’ Brew has released the lyric video for their single “God’ll Cut You Down” off of their upcoming Reckoning EP. Directed by Zach Kubiak of Prophesied Design, “God’ll Cut You Down” is a heavy twist on an American folk classic.

Fools’ Brew is back, shredding ears and melting faces, with their brand of straightforward, beer-soaked metal. After making their mark on the live scene and dropping their debut EP This Side of Sanity, the Chicago-based quartet has returned with new single and lyric video for “God’ll Cut You Down.”

Fools’ Brew offer a dark spin on an old favorite, taking what is often seen as a cautionary tale and morphing it into the delusions and rambling of a destitute drifter. The traditional folksy acoustics and sing-a-long vocals are swapped out for down-tuned electrics and growling snarls, blaring the warning “You’re gonna reap just what you sow.” It’s a barn-burner of a track and its accompanying lyric video is going to slay the intended audience.

For the upcoming EP The Reckoning, Fools’ Brew teamed up with Chris Steinmetz of Stonecutter Recording Studios to capture the sound and the fury they bring to the stage. The result is six tracks of bruising, straightforward metal and whiskey-soaked grooves. Song themes vary from a pained retaliation, to a tongue lashing aimed at a corrupt establishment, to an ode to everyone’s favorite pastime (drinking!). It’s a call to action to embrace your path, do what you love, and set fire to anything that stands in your way. Fools’ Brew wouldn’t have it any other way…

FOOLS’ BREW is on a mission to tear up every stage they play with straightforward, beer-soaked, Midwest-bred metal. The Chicago four-piece cut their teeth playing bars and clubs all around Chicago, Joliet, and northwest Indiana. In the early months of 2012 they rocked The Rave in Milwaukee while opening for Korn. 2013 saw the FOOLS win the Chicago Battle of the Bandsat Reggie’s Rock Club, play the main stage at Congress Theater, and headline shows at Goose Island Wrigleyville and Reggie’s. This year, behind their newly released EP, THIS SIDE OF SANITY, they’ve showcased their raucous live set across the Midwest playing venues in Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, and Bloomington; opened forKyng, Kill Devil Hill, Soulfly, Butcher Babies, and Upon A Burning Body; and packed shows back home at Reggie’s, Martyr’s, and Mojoes among others. In 2015 the FOOLS have partnered up with BlankTV and joined the family of Coldcock Whiskey sponsored artists. The word is spreading, heads are turning, and faces are melting. The future looks bright, because this band is on fire.
