BOREAL HYMN Releases Demo EP, ‘TUNDRA’

tundrapromo portraitSMALL

Dark Tribal Folk Metal duo BOREAL HYMN has released their debut, 4 track demo entitled “Tundra.”

Player

TUNDRA is the culmination of a lot of experimentation and trial and error. We knew what we wanted BOREAL HYMN to feel like, but the tough part was writing a piece of music that embodied that feeling. After chipping away at the demo for several months, I feel like we’ve landed on something that expresses exactly what we wanted to express. We want a sound that is both ancient and relevant. It isn’t about role playing or pretending to live in the iron age; it’s about unearthing traditions, feelings, and philosophies that we feel are undervalued in modern life.” – Colby Hink

A Voodoo Doctor “The Doctor” came across a girl who looked lost and scared. He used his magic to turn her into a doll, but his spell was disrupted from her terrifying and taunting screams, she remained half human, half doll. As Raven lived in the dark world of the Doctor, she secretly learned his magic and conjured up a demon, Muppet, who she made her eternal protector and trapped him inside her heart. The Doctor and Muppet created Stitches to search for those who are looking to join our dark metal carnival world in the 13th hour.

Raven Black released their first single, “Died Inside,” on September 7, 2013 at the Roxy, selling out the venue that night. They continued to work in the studio and released their first EP, Midnight Dreary, in June 2014, successfully packing the house at the famous Viper Room.

The band was previously managed by Aaron Rossi (Grammy Nominated Drummer of Ministry/Prong), AJR Enterprises and worked with Grammy-Winning Producer Logan Mader (SoulFly/Machinehead/Five Finger Death Punch).

In October 2014, they revamped their line up and began working with Grammy Nominated Producer Ulrich Wild (Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Alice In Chains, Breaking Benjamin, Pantera, Seether,Dethklok, Otep, and more) on their new album. They then spent the next two years writing and then released their single, “Seven Sins,” in April 2016 and their EP, Seven Sins, in September 2016.

Raven Black played the Corona Hell and Heaven Festival July 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico with headliners like Rammstein, Twisted Sister, Ghost, Five Finger Death Punch, Mushroomhead, Selpultura, Alien Ant Farm, and many others.

To end their summer, they played the 2016 DirtFest Festival in Michigan with headliners Killswitch Engage, Asking Alexandria, Hatebreed, Attila, Born of Osiris, and many others.

Releasing their first Official EP with the new line up, Seven Sins dropped September 29, 2016 on the way out to tour with Mushroomhead, Sunflower Dead, Unsaid Fate, and Death Division for Mushroomhead’s Annual Halloween Tour.

The 2017 year started very busy for Raven Black as they headed to Cleveland, OH to film their new music video with MonoBloc’s Josh Apple and Andrew Sparks for “Twinkle Twinkle Little Scars,” premiered by Revolver Magazine on April 13, 2017. A little horror version of their already theatrical presence in the metal community. “We wanted to have some blood in this one,” says Raven.

After a quick rest, Raven Black toured through the Southern parts of the U.S. on their way to SXSW They played the Heart of Texas Rock Festival in March 2017. Winning fans from across multiple genres at SXSW. Raven says, “I am so proud of being able to share our METAL music with other fans of country, hip hop and pop genres. I was so surprised and happy to see them buying our music. It was fun and the only thing missing was the big mosh pit, LOL, although there was a small handful of metalheads represented this year at SXSW. ”

After returning back home to Los Angeles, the band quickly prepared for their first Headliner Tour, The Hex O’Clock Tour, which kicked off in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Roadhouse Voodoo Bar, July 7, 2017 and returned to the U.S. to begin their month long tour throughout the U.S. from coast to coast.

The Hex O’Clock Tour was a complete success and the band was able to visit so many new cities throughout the country, see their fans, and play so many new venues. Sharing with their fans, new stage props, a few new songs and announcing their new album, 13, in early Spring 2018.

Raven Black just finished their 6-week across the U.S. tour supporting Psychostick, Arsonists Get All the Girls, and Kissing Candice. The tour was amazing and the bands have developed life-long friends. Doesn’t always happen on tours, but it did this time.

To end the 2017 year, Raven Black just announced their pre-order of the Comic Book The Dark Metal Carnival – The Beginning – Issues 1-100. These pre order comic books will be series sequenced from 1-100 and will release in print this Spring 2018. Only these first 100 issues will be numbered for the fans that pre-order. The remaining prints after the first 100 will not be numbered.

They will be also releasing their 2nd EP Album this Spring, 13. In the studio in January and February, Raven Black will be working with Ulrich Wild, Wurm Group, once again to complete their next release this Spring 2018. Of course, this will surely mean a TOUR across the U.S. and performing the new tracks from “13”. There may also be a new music video coming this early Summer.

On tour this Spring with special guest, Hail Sagan and Aboleth May 11, 2018 through June 3, 2018 including an appearance at the Metal In the Mountains Festival in West Virginia on June 2, 2018 with headliner, Mushroomhead.

The Spring tour, “The Little Monsters Tour” will feature their new album “13” with single releases, “Monster”, “DollHouse” and “The Nobodoies” (Cover Song by Marilyn Manson”). Their new first issue/limited edition comic book, “A Dark Metal Carnival – The Beginning” and new swag for 2018.

Following their tour, expect a few fun releases of a new music video and a new announcement of their upcoming Summer Tour after they play the 2018 Michigan Metal Festival on August 11, 2018!

ENDING THEIR 2018 YEAR, RAVEN BLACK HAS BEEN ON TOUR WITH DEVILDRIVER AND JINJER THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.

IN 2019, RAVEN BLACK SIGNED WITH THE ORACLE MANAGEMENT, OWNED AND OPERATED BY DEVILDRIVER’S VERY OWN DEZ FAFARA AND AHNASTASIA FAFARA. WITH THIS POWER HOUSE MANAGING THE BAND, AND THEIR EVER SO STRONG BOOKING AGENCY AND PRODUCER, ULRICH WILD OF WURM GROUP, THE BAND QUICKLY RISING THROUGH THE TOURING CIRCUIT AND SUPPORTING THE BIGGEST TOURS OF 2019. RELEASING THREE NEW SINGLES FROM THEIR UPCOMING THIRD ALBUM, RAVEN BLACK RELEASED SONGS, “CARNIVAL,” “RISEN FROM THE ASHES,” AND “THE ONE,” AFTER PLAYING THE INKCARCERATION FESTIVAL AT THE FAMOUS OHIO REFORMATORY.

IN SPRING OF 2019, RAVEN BLACK WAS ON TOUR WITH CRADLE OF FILTH AND END THE 2019 YEAR WITH A TWO-PART US/CANADA TOUR WITH STATIC-X/DEVILDRIVER/DOPE AND WEDNESDAY 13 DURING THE SUMMER AND FALL.

Lullwater Poster Nirvana Style 2

For more than a decade, alt rockers Lullwater have been blazing their way to the top of the industry thanks to their gritty, Southern-infused sound and straight-up, raw performances.

Formed in 2007 in Athens, GA, the foursome was born from the indelible mark that the godfathers of grunge left on music. The convergence of this inspiration, mixed with a healthy helping of swagger, defines this critically acclaimed alternative rock band.

The group released its debut, self-titled album in 2012 to solid reviews and were immediately invited to join some of the biggest tours that same year, as well as had the single “Albatross” featured on Sirius XM Octane Radio. Since that time, Lullwater has spent the majority of their career on the road sharing the stage with such A-list acts as CandleboxTheory of a DeadmanFlyleafPassafireAmarantheButcher Babies, and more. The band released their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Revival, in 2015, followed by a live EP, The Seattle Sessions, in 2017.

Voodoo, their latest effort and arguably their best work to date, was recorded at the end of 2017 in New Orleans at Marigny Studios by Swedish producer and engineer Jakob Herrmann, co-produced/engineered by Justin Davis, and mixed by Jakob Herrmann at top floor studios, is scheduled for a Winter 2018 release; this record promises an even bigger, more explosive sound that will shake you to your core.

Deepfall drops their latest album, Broken, via Pavement Entertainment. Broken is available on CD through Pavement’s Online Store and on streaming platforms everywhere.

Rich Hopkins, the vocalist of Deepfall, says on Broken, “My favorite song performance wise from the new album would have to be ‘Ghost.’ It’s a fairly deep song for me, and playing it on stage is a bit of a rollercoaster ride.” He also appreciates seeing the different reactions fans have to Deepfall’s music. “Everyone who listens to our music can incorporate their own circumstances to each song. It’s amazing to see what our fans take away from it.”

Deepfall conjures an enveloping storm of carefully crafted hard rock that strikes the soul with stinging honesty. Masterfully capturing thematic darkness, the band leaves a sonic trail of scorched post-apocalyptic earth behind its musical machine, blazing a path through the heaviness of life with an equally heavy response.

Cutting to the bone with soaring instrumental passages, spirited choruses, and precisely placed breakdowns, the band thrives in the expanse of rock ’n’ roll’s vast sub-genres.

Masterfully capturing thematic darkness, the band leaves a sonic trail of scorched post-apocalyptic earth behind its musical machine, blazing a path through the heaviness of life with an equally heavy response.
Situated in Greenville, Michigan, the group’s current lineup, which began to take shape in 2015, is comprised of Rich Hopkins (vocals/guitar), Nick Gray (drums), Tim King (keyboards), Anthony Battista (lead guitar 1), Max Carrillo (lead guitar 2), and Taylor Brandt (bass).

In a short time, DEEPFALL has carved its place in the American rock scene with broad, muscular soundscapes forged in the studio and resurrected onstage. GEARS Teams with LIVING COLOUR Front-Man COREY GLOVER to Re-Imagine Iconic “Cult of Personality”

GEARS Cult Cover Art w FT

Miami, FL hard rock band GEARS has joined forces with legendary LIVING COLOUR vocalist and front-man COREY GLOVER for a modern update to the 1988 hit single, “Cult of Personality.” Originally premiered on REVOLVER, “Cult of Personality” was recorded in Recorded at Wombat Studios in New Jersey and Jettlane Studios in Kentucky, Mixed by Corey Lowery and Mastered by Paul Logus, with the video being filmed and directed by Estil Robinson.

“‘Cult of Personality’ is a song that we always wanted to cover. That groove, that riff, the vocals, lyrical content … Everything about it has always stuck out to us and been a personal favorite. To have the opportunity to not only record a song that is important to us, but to have Corey Glover himself come in and perform on that track, it was truly a special moment. He was so easy and fun to work with and the final product is really something that we are extremely proud of” – JIMMY WOOTEN

Gears Promo Final Edits 55 1 of 1

Miami based hard/heavy rock act GEARS isn’t your average start-up garage band. Despite being confronted with a near disastrous setback at the cusp of their debut, headlining tour, jarring line-up changes, and financial challenges, the band has persevered and rebuilt.

Founded in February 2014, Trip 6 (Urban Rebel), Eli Parker (Endo), Tommy Herres (SCARLET CARSON) and Jimmy Wooten (SKINMASK) were all looking for new projects as their old ones had run their course.

We all wanted to do something more modern, but still rang true to our influences. Something that we could aggressively market and tour on. So, we all met up in Miami after months of talking about doing something together and what came out was the first EP, “Set in Motion.”

They released Set in Motion in May 2014, immediately launching into their first headline run with support from I-Exist. Just three days into the tour, their equipment trailer disconnected, resulting in a massive, horrific accident; not only did they lose their gear, but the tour van was totaled and the band members sustained serious injury. In spite of this tremendous blow, the group endured and continued the tour without missing a beat.

Later it developed that two of the founding members were unable to continue, leaving the band reeling and having to replace them with skilled, compatible substitutes:

“I was talking with a mutual friend, Joe Taback (12 Gauge Embrace) about needing a guitar player for GEARS because we let go of Eli and he suggested Bobby Thomas. I called him and showed him the songs and he was ready to go. As far as bass, I knew Chris from when Needlemouth was a thing out in Cali and I always liked his playing and he was super laid back & cool. I knew both of these dudes were definite upgrades at their instruments and were a better fit personality wise than what we had to deal with previously.”

In June 2015, Wooten and Six teamed with Corey Lowery (Saint AsoniaStuck MojoStereomudDark New Day) and Troy Mclawhorn (EvanescenceSeetherDark New Day) on their new EP Pride Comes Before the Fall, and announced the addition of new members Bobby Thomas and Chris Dorame. They hit the road for their Riser Tour, once again with I-Exist, in July, wrapping up the run in September, but kept the momentum going with the digital release and lyric video for their debut single off of Pride Comes Before the Fall, “Face Down”. The band rounded out the year with the release of their much anticipated sophomore EP on November 10th, with both headlining tours and a support slot with Trapt slated for 2017.

After a very successful tour in 2017 with Seasons After and Bridge to Grace, GEARS has released a new single and video for “KING.” Once again, joined by Corey Lowery in the studio, GEARS continues to evolve. Boasting an even heavier sound with groove and aggression, they set out for Headlining Dates as well as Support Slots with NonpointUpon a Burning Body and will round out their 2018 Summer/Fall Tour Dates with the last of 3 legs with All That Remains concluding at the end of September.

After touring much of 2018 with All That Remains, GEARS has shifted focus to releasing more music. Their first 2019 offering will be “TANGO YANKEE’ which features LAJON WITHERSPOON of SEVENDUST.

GEARS is currently in the studio with Corey Lowery working on some more new music and will have upcoming tour dates to announce for 2020 soon.

We’re still moving forward and, despite everything that has been an obstacle in the short time we’ve been a band, everything still keeps growing and getting better.

EDSEL DOPE Confronts Static-X Rumors: Calls Photo of Neck Tattoo “Click Bait and Hilarious”, While reminding us that “People can do Amazing things with Photoshop”

DOPE front-man EDSEL DOPE, in the midst of a flurry of online speculation, has broken his silence to address the claims of photographic evidence attempting to prove his role as the masked vocalist, named Xer0, on the current STATIC-X Wisconsin Death Trip 20th Anniversary Tour / Memorial for WAYNE STATIC.

Hello world.

I have quietly sat through all of this speculation and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Yesterday’s internet eruption reminded me of an episode of Scooby-Doo.

It’s incredible how far some people will go to get attention or clicks, so let me remind you how easy it is to slap a little tribal neck tattoo onto someone in photoshop.

IMG 4001

I’m honored for myself and for my band DOPE to be part of this 20th anniversary celebration, along with this unbelievable, traveling memorial to our old friend Wayne Static.

Wayne is currently on the minds and in the hearts of the metal community in a very unique and special way. His memory / legacy is more celebrated than it has ever been before.

I personally get to see the joy, the tears, and the incredible sense of healing that is occurring on the faces and in the hearts of Static-X fans, each and every night, around the world.

I’m not attempting to be a spokesperson for Static-X, but I will share that I have personally met Wayne’s parents and siblings, as they have attended a number of these shows.

I have personally seen their tears of joy and their expressions of gratitude and approval for the way that Tony, Ken, Koichi, & Xer0 are celebrating the music and memorializing the life and legacy of their son and sibling, Wayne Wells Static.

I’m including a candid photo that I snapped of Static-X drummer Ken Jay embracing Wayne’s father, while Tony Campos, Wayne’s mother, Wayne’s siblings and friends share some personal time together. Words cannot express the love and respect that I’ve experienced out here.

IMG 3987

It’s one thing to go on a Scooby-Doo scavenger hunt, or to use photoshop to attempt to prove whatever you are trying to spin, but it’s entirely different when trolls, masquerading as journalists, spew their ignorant, hateful words towards something that is so incredibly personal.

Anyone with the nerve to throw virtual tomatoes at a traveling memorial, that has been orchestrated and supported by the family, loved ones, and long-time friends of the deceased should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

IMG 4014

In the end, I’m not the type of person to allow others to dictate the narrative of my life or my art, so I’ve decided to also include a picture of me chatting it up, while watching another SOLD OUT Static-X show from the side of the stage the other night.

“This song is a true story, and it totally worked! We’ve all been in the friend zone at some point or another in our lives, and that’s precisely where I was when I wrote this. I had pretty much accepted the fact that she and I would never be together, and I just wanted her to know how I really felt. Now she’s been my girlfriend for over a year!” – Jake Ward

From the very beginning, Watch Me Breathe has been all about honesty and authenticity. Lead singer Jake Aaron Ward formed the band in 2017 purely out of frustration. “As a solo artist, I just got fed up with trying to write music only to please other people. Watch Me Breathe is really an experiment that says: what would I write if nobody else was listening?”
The results of that experiment have been surprising. In the short time since the release of their debut LP “The Lighter Side of Darkness” in February 2018, Watch Me Breathe has already accrued well over 150K views on YouTube and over 50K streams on Spotify…and the numbers keep growing.

When it comes to making albums, this particular band has an unusual process not unlike that of Tame Impala or Bon Iver: Ward (a proficient multi-instrumentalist) writes, performs, records, mixes, and masters every song entirely by himself, in his own California home studio. He jokingly explains “I just kind of suck at collaborating.” He cites an eclectic range of influences, including Peter GabrielThe PoliceImogen HeapGoo Goo Dolls, and a whole slew of underground progressive metal bands that have helped shape his unique guitar parts and complex rhythmic patterns. In concert, the band performs as a power trio, with Ward covering guitar and lead vocals, while bassist Ryan Green and drummer/baby brother Carl Ward handle the rhythm section.
