PRIMITIVE RACE Release Lyric Video for “Bed Six” Off of ‘Soul Pretender’

Primitive Race Cartoon

PRIMITIVE RACE, featuring the late, legendary former FAITH NO MORE and BAD BRAINS front-man Chuck Mosley, has released a lyric video for the single “Bed Six,” off of their 2017 released Soul Pretender LP.

“The funny thing about Bed Six is all of our songs on Soul Pretender had working titles of Bed and just a number. For whatever reason Chuck decided he was just going to call this song Bed Six and work the title into the song. I gave him so much hell about that and he refused to change it. So we ended up just going with it. It was just an inside joke.” – Chris Kniker

“When I listened to the music, ideas just came pouring out,” Mosley had previously stated. “I couldn’t say no to doing the record. When we completed the first few tracks, I found myself wishing I had written them. Not just the lyrics…just good heavy riffs and grooves really sucked me in. The melodies and words came super easy with this music. Even though it’s a whole different vibe it brought out a side of me I haven’t experienced since writing with Faith No More.”

Early Praise for Soul Pretender:
It’s hard not to view Primitive Race’s sophomore outing, Soul Pretender, as the next chapter in Chuck Mosley’s epic comeback story. On the record, out Friday on Metropolis, Mosley is positively radiant, sounding better, sharper and more engaged than he has since the heyday of Faith No More’s Introduce Yourself. After years of being relegated to the struggles of “solo” outings and hard-to-find Cement discs, Mosley here is raspy – he wears his age incredibly well – and utterly menacing as he lurks behind lurching guitars and the occasional twinkle of a keyboard, the landscape darker than his previous work. And, damn, does it work! – Pop Dose

If Primitive Race’s stylistic trajectory is to be considered, as exhibited in the group’s two albums; add to that, the invigorating (but at the same time, inadvertent) inclusion of Mosley’s memories into this latest offering – then there should be something more that can be expected from the collective’s future projects. For the meantime, let your senses get drowned in pleasant torture in the sonic machinery of this scorching undertaking. – CrypticRock

Time will tell what the next incarnation of Primitive Race will hold, but if the first two albums are any indication, then it should be just as great while continuing to establish the supergroup’s place in the world of punk and industrial rock. – mxdwn

“Mosley discussed Soul Pretender with me during our interview about two months ago, praising it as unlike anything he had ever heard and claiming that it spoke to him in a way that he felt beyond compelled to work on this project. After listening to the album, I can understand why Mosley was drawn to the project as Soul Pretender is a unique and seamless collision of alternative, industrial, and punk rock. Just as Mosley said, it really is unlike anything else. His pride for the album as a whole was not only completely justified, but his own performance stands out as one of the best among his diverse career. While it is a common cliché to claim someone went out with a bang at the top of their game, it’s clear that Mosley truly did. As a whole, Soul Pretender, is an excellent record and a must hear for fans of 90’s alternative and hard rock as well as those who prefer modern rock from the last decade. After listening to Soul Pretender a number of times, it is clear that Primitive Race is truly a band to watch out for.” Spill Magazine

Modern Mimes Cover Iconic “I Don’t Wanna Be Me,” & Type O Negative Enthusiastically Approves!

Fort Lauderdale based Future Goth duo Modern Mimesrecently covered epochal Goth Metal legends Type O Negative’s 2003 “I Don’t Wanna Be Me,” and paired it with a visually alluring music video, and not only did the iconic surviving members approve, but quickly promoted the single and video ahead of release.

“This is great-this band Modern Mimes approached this cover just as type o would have: changed the tempo and feel of it and made it their own. Tones and mix are great as well. It sounds as if Type O did a cover of Type O. Amazing job. I love this. Its better than our version.” – Type O Negative Facebook

The Florida Based Modern Mimes is clearly here on business! Originally formed in late 2014, their creation can be best described as “future goth,” a term they coined to explain their fusion of soaring guitar, powerfully haunting vocals, subconscious evocative lyrics, and catchy pop sensibilities.

Modern Mimes consists of Adi Elcida Hernandez on vocals/guitar/sampling and Ernesto Paez on the double neck guitar bass. Ernesto came from the world of touring US extensively in heavy bands where Adi was a solo singer/songwriter. This teaming has created a conduit for the wellspring of creative and ambient offering that is Modern Mimes.

Unrestrained by genres or trends, Modern Mimes is the perfectly cathartic reflection of the inner workings of Adi and Ernesto, who are creating these sounds with the intention of inspiring listeners to journey through their subconscious and look within. Thei debut, Wake Up, is the 9 track concept album released in early 2017, which sets the tone and standard of their continual elevation. Catch Modern Mimes Live and discover what the others already know!

“This is one of the more talented and infectios bands we’ve found in recent years. Safe to say we’re big fans.” – Dom Smith (Soundsphere Magazine)

Susan Gittes Releases Dark New EP, ‘Alone,’ Via Bishops Bloc Records!

Elusive Electronic Music Producer Susan Gittes has released her debut, down techno-industrial EP, Alone, via Bishops Bloc Records.

“Susan Gittes did it! Introducing one of the hardest, darkest artists we could find with one slowed down, dark industrial techno stomper and one what we would call soundtrack-esque industrial nightmare.” – Bishops Bloc Records

Slowed down techno and industrial sounds drenched in darkness. Nobody knows anything about Susan Gittes other than what we hear in her music’; its our best guess that she is a psychopathic killer on the loose, with a sampler and a drum machine. Sometimes heavy on percussion while other times heavy on the synths and soundscapes, Susan Gittes definitely knows how to create a feeling. Regardless of who Susan Gittes is, this release is already getting some major underground techno support from the likes of D.A.V.E. the Drummer aka Henry CullenCorvad and Fear The Priest. When contacted about the tracks and her process in music making Susan only replied with “…when i make songs I’m basically acting on impulses, what results is often emotional leftovers from my last seduction.”

BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING Release Compelling 90 Second Video Collage!

b4202f24-2c4d-474e-909e-ca3cd9fc7fbc

Oklahoma City based BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING, the electro-metal project from producer Dietrich Thrall (ex-DOYLE, MARAZENE), have posted their 2016 teaser in the form of a 90 second video collage which highlights the bands upcoming releases.

Teaser Track List:
1) “N.G.F.D.” (Never Gonna F*ing Die)
2) “YOUR LOVE” THE OUTFIELD cover
3) “REVEILLE”
4) “JULIET”

“For as long as I can remember I have always heard music in my head. Usually while I am in songwriting mode and I start scatting scratch vocals I will get a good sense of a lyrical theme and from there a story emerges. Sometimes the story is vast and communal and sometimes it’s just a feeling or a mood and much more personal.
From every aspect of this project ; music, lyrics, album artwork, and video, I wanted to try and create a multi-media experience that would shine a light from different angles on different core aspects of concepts that were running around in my head despite all of the financial roadblocks most independent bands face.
For my bands first videos it just so happens the first couple of songs took a zombie apocalypse turn. But whether the setting is that of a dystopian future or focuses on interpersonal pain from the present or demons from the past my goal has and will always be to enhance the musical experience through a cinematic approach.”

Artist & producer DieTrich Thrall is known among industrial-metal fans for his work in the band Marazene (AKA: Marazene Machine), who scored a hit – and the approval of rock legends NIKKI SIXX and TOMMY LEE – with their extreme cover of Motley Crüe‘s “Live Wire” as well as horror punk fans during his touring stint with MISFITS guitar legend DOYLE WOLFGANG VON FRANKENSTEIN‘s solo project DOYLE.

In between flirtations and collaborations with rock n’ roll’s elite, Thrall has pushed ahead, never afraid to pioneer new ground, forming a new heavy electronic rock supergroup dubbed BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING which features studio and media special guests from members of TRAPT, AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE,DOPE, ANTI-MORTEM, SKINLAB, EVERYBODY PANIC – with additional guests TBA.

For their first outing as a new band, Thrall and team decided to adopt a horror motif, beginning with the track “The Crazies (The Zombie Song),” which is no doubt influenced by the horror classics of George A. Romero – not just the film of the same name, but his beloved Dead saga as well.

“The Crazies” is the first of four zombie-themed music videos to be released and you’ll be hearing more about the project soon.
